and now my vent doesnt work untill i have it at full blast....

also it only turns on defrosser no matter what the possition... so wtf did the stupid fan do to my truck?

Check all connections? Make sure the metal contact broke through the wire insulation on the tap connector? Check your ground?

jeff, we may have to check the wiring diagram for your 99 to make sure that the gray/white is still the ac clutch wire for that year.

you may have blown the blower motor resistor(just a thought) that could explain why its not comming on except for high

*An overheating protective device (thermal limiter) will open the resistor coil circuit when the temperature reaches 121°C (250°F) interrupting the blower motor operation in all speeds except HI*

The vent control should be vacuum actuated.. check for a vacuum line thats off.
as far as the blower not sure however look for simple problems and dont just throw parts at it.

when you tap into the PURPLE wire.....split the wire you tap into it and put each side on a switch.......i did this and it allows the fan to come on with the a/c and it also allows me to be able to turn it off while going down the interstate!!...........

sorry i know this is off topic....just a suggestion if you want a switch!

ok, i think i now know what it is... i remeber you saying that all the vacuum lines go to the passenger kick pannel... well i can hear air rushing in on that area, and when i took off the pannel, i can hear it, but i just cant locate the leak...

you have a diagram or something of what the area might look like?

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...umlines002.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...umlines001.jpg

and theres what im working with...

update::: i got it to work, and was happy, but then it jsut suddenly stops working and goes back to only at max, and only coming out of the defroster;....

OK, i know for sure that i have a vacuum leak because my trucks driving all funny and the power just bottoms out everyonce and a while, so this might be the cause of why my vents work intermitantly...

or could it still be an electrical probelm? either way, its going into a shop to get the vacuum lines repaired because i cant figure out where its leaking on the hose, i just know the general location...

ok so i went to a shop today where my dad knows the guy so we wouldnt get screwed, and hes saying just what priemer said in that its probably the blower motor risistor or relay... and then the function control switch...

ive found the resistor on autozone but does anyone know the location of it, and how to put it in?

also any info on where i could get a new selector? JY? parts store? ford?

If the vents are malfunctioning its a vacuum issue.
If the blower is its an electrical issue.

The vents will actuate with the ignition OFF.. provided there is residual vacuum.
