KC extravaganza, kinds, styles, types, time to learn.(56k no)

Ok this thread will talk about the different versions of lights KC offers. Today we are back in class .
Ok first off is the original Daylighter, some notes from KC
Our shock-mounted lights began with the famous Daylighter™ that we invented and patented in 1972. Not only does the Daylighter™ use a heavy-duty rubber gasket (bulb holder) that isolates the lens, reflector, and bulb from the metal housing and elements of weather, but it also includes our patented shock mounting system.

The KC HiLiTES shock mounting system was developed as a way to isolate the lamp unit from the mounting bracket or surface to which the light is mounted. This system successfully reduces lamp failure due to vibration and has been proven through the extremes of off road racing. Now, the shock mount system has been updated from the original to require no extra drilling. We currently offer a wide range of 6 inch round lights in various finishes and wattage’s that include this proven shock mount system.
Daylighter™ Pair Pack Systems include:

* Two All Steel 6" round Daylighter™ housings w/ Shock Mount System
* Optical quality Glass Lens for maximum Clarity and Light Projection
* 100 Watt Halogen, 130 Watt Ice Blue Halogen, or 150 Watt Sealed Beam Bulbs
* Precision Polished and Focused Reflectors
* Two KC light Covers
* Complete Pre-terminated Wiring Harness with illuminated Switch and 40 amp Relay
* Illustrated instructions for easy installation
Ok with daylighers design the reason its such a large housing is because of the 150W daylighter is made that large for cooling the Sealed beam bulb. Now that being sayed the 150w lights are sealed beam light bulb, think back in the day with you moms old 70's LTD, you had to replace the whole headlight bulb reflector and everything. Same principle. Ok the 100W and 130W are H3 bulbs and you can just replace the bulbs. Now the 100w and 130w lights don’t get as warm as the 150w. Thus why the ABS plastic stone guards and clear guard melt under the heat. These lights aren’t as "big" as you may thing they will fit on any standard brush guard. The mounting bolt is fairly far back.

Ok lets talk bulbs for a min to help you understand
Bulbs/Wattage: Measured in watts; higher wattage means brighter light. (except for HID metal-halide systems which project the brightest beam available at relatively low wattage.)
First up is the leader the SEALED BEAM (Incandescent)
The vacuum-sealed beam is the traditional automotive light source. For many applications such as marine, it remains very popular due in part to its complete atmospheric sealing which keeps water and condensation away from the interior of the light, as well as the greater selection of wattage’s and candlepower’s available. Color temperature is approximately 2700° K.

QUARTZ HALOGEN
A very widely used light source due to its relatively low bulb cost and whiter light temperature of approximately 3000° K.

Ok here is the listing of the daylighters. I will continue more below with different lights, so follow me down.

THESE are all the LONG RANGE Daylighters

Ok lets talk about the Slim lights for a little.
These where made to fit in smaller spots that the daylighter couldn’t fit in, or people wanted that more stream line look of a thinner off-road light. Now being it is so thin that’s why a 150w bulb is not offered in it just the 100w and 130w
Ok some words from KC:
Supercharge your vehicle’s lighting with our new KC high output Halogen Fog and Driving SlimLites.

We have expanded our newest and very popular SlimLite series to include Fog and Driving beam patterns in addition to our Long-Range lights.

KC SlimLites feature a unique 6” round steel housing with a sleek, flat profile that allows them to fit where many other lights won’t. These lights incorporate high performance halogen bulbs, optical quality glass lenses and precision polished reflectors to generate a super bright and specially focused beam of light. The two-axis mount provides for easy and accurate aiming. Also included are super tough ABS plastic Stone Guards for added protection and great styling.
Now available in a choice of three attractive finishes:

* Unique “Titanium Look” finish with super white 130w Ice Blue halogen bulbs
* Brilliant Chrome Plated finish with high performance clear halogen bulbs
* Deep Black Powder Coat finish with high performance clear halogen bulbs

Installation is quick and easy with a KC pre-terminated wiring Harness (included in complete systems). The harness includes a heavy-duty relay along with an illuminated switch and is ready to plug into the lights leaving a professionally installed, factory appearance.
Ok the Slims has a 2 bolt, 2 axis aiming system, unlike the Daylighers ball and socket. You have to play with them a little more to get the aiming down. Not hard just time consuming. They also come with the ABS stone guards stock. Now just like the daylighter they also come in driving, fog and long range.

Ok am going to give you a picture to help understand fog, driving and long range

That will help explain a little and help you decide which light you want.

Now on to the lights

no need to sticky it. it is in the product reviews. that is where it goes. no reason to give one company a sticky over another...

Yeah, just saw that.. I think he should. If someone wants to go through all that work and do such a comprehensive writeup for another brand of lighting, then that should get stickied too!
