Tranny Time!!!

Yep the time has come, all the fluid pumped out of the tranny, made a bunch of bad noise ect, tonight at 3am coming home from a friends house, pulling the car trailer. So the tranny is toast, happened under load pulling up a hill.

Anyone know of a good place to start looking for a new tranny?

Ill try and take pictures and stuff when I pull it, but as of right now not in a good mood to be wrenching on this truck again, but I probably deserve it on how I treat the truck I guess...

it was bound to happen! i know you used the crap out of it. so its not like you didnt get your moneys worth. that was the reason i upgraded.

I dont know of any place particularly. most f150 guys just get a ford replacement.

What about a junkyard? Or a rebuild. Might be a little cheaper then a ford replacement.

Yep a new TC is going in also, need to go get a bunch of extensions from the snapon later today to be able to get to the top two tranny bolts, my buddy is going to call me when he stops at the caterpillar dealer.

The trans actually cracked, where it connects to the extension housing, makes me wonder it I did hit it last weekend on my adventure at the farm...

Tranny is in and works, tomorrow ill button up all the wirring, breathers, heat shields and still have to put the front drive shaft in ect. Surprising I only have probably 15 hours into it or so, but tired of crawling around a creeper I kno that forsure. Getting new one in kind of sucked to clear the exhaust the tranny jack I had didn't tilt enough, bench pressing a tranny I wouldn't recommend it...

get a trans fluid temp gauge. The most common problem with the 4R75 is that the front pump seal fits loosely in the pump. When the trans overheats, the pump expands and pukes the seal out.

If you ever have to remove it again, install a new pump seal with gray RTV around the O.D. of the seal to help retain it.

O ive always watched my temp gauge, it was right at 150F when she let go. But the hardest bolt out of the whole thing is the top bolt on the starter lol.

Well put her to its first test last night pulling a brand new T870, we have alot of flooding around here and my buddy got the contract to make some of the clay dikes so I went n picked up his new toy. Just the bobcat tips the scales at 13k, no issues pulling it just like every other time ive pulled that much lol.
