nice. i'm sure because it's the 7.3 he's capable of that many miles. if he had the next model it might not have made it that far. i remember the issues posted when they went from the 7.3 to the 6.0 or the 6.4. i forget which one it was but i know someone will correct me.

i was thinking about a similar job when i was younger. driving snowbirds' cars to them in the southern states. never happened though.

sounds like a story generated by some bored people at Ford.

cool none the less though.

Im just joking about that first comment. Thats a really cool way to see the country, except you dont really get to do anything besides look out your window as you pass state after state.

There's a truck at the Toyota dealership in town with 1 million plus KM on it, pretty impressive as well.

Crazy! So if he gets 20 MPG and the tank is say 35 gallons. Means

20MPG x 35 gallons = 700 miles / tank

700 MPT / 310 miles per day = 2.26 days

35 gallons x $4.25 / gallon = $148.75

365 days / 2.26 days = 161.5

$148.75 x 161.5 = $24,023.78 per year in gas Thats 75% of my annual income. lol

that's today's prices though. plus i'm sure he can write most if not all that stuff off. fuel, maint., upkeep, replacement parts.

a ton of owners had issues with the heads or the motor using oil like crazy. alot of recalls. i remember my uncle had one and ford bought the truck back after they couldn't fix the problem.

My cousin has an old f350 diesel, not sure which motor, with over a mil on the clock with almost no major repairs (clutch, steering and such).

this truck HAS to have a manual trans, or it has had 4,600 transmissions installed in its lifetime LOL

there is no superduty that is newer than 2005 that could do this without $1,000,000 in repair along the way

it would read like this

"so i drove 3 miles today and had the EGR cooler replaced, then i drove 4 miles and had the low/reverse planetary replaced in the trans, then 7 miles later i had the VGT solenoid replaced....."

oh come on! i beat the crap out of mine and its running good. 125k on the clock so far. had a few issues here and there but it drives like brand new. it is leaking oil some but i think that is my fault on installing the new oil pump. should have used some sealant on that gasket.

Worst Diesel engine Ford ever produced! I have towed more 6.0 diesels with less than 100,000 miles to Ford Dealerships than any other diesel engine on the market and the average cost to fix each truck was 5,000-6,500! In the 5 years I owned my Wrecker service I might have only towed less than 10 7.3 liters. The 6.0L has Major EGR PROBLEMS. The problem is that Ford didn't design its EGR system to handle the extra heat and unburned fuel that find their way into the EGR system when these engines are modified. The EGR cooler can even cause the engine to run hot as the super-heated exhaust from the EGR overwhelms the EGR cooler and causes the engine coolant circulating around it to boil. Boiling coolant isn't good for the engine. Not to say this is the only cause for 6.0L head gasket failure, but it is certainly a common one.

The reason, Mueller says, is that his F-350 maintains its durability, reliability and comfort, along with the special bond some truck owners seem to have with their vehicles.
I like this guy :) Ford love hahaha

Says in the article he drives 600-800 miles a day now!! WOAH.

HAHAHA You have put more money and maintenance into your truck than the average owner would care to deal with. ESPECIALLY a 2008! Most people would have just taken a lose and sold the truck when it started having issues. You stuck with yours and that is impressive but defiantly not the norm.

Beard, it is impressive the amount of work you have put into a 3 year old truck. It IS a nice truck that drives like brand new now, but not when you bought it!

It will be interesting to see how the new Ford diesel will turn out to be in the next few years. I wonder if it will have the same issues as the 6.0/6.4 or if it will bring Fords diesel reputation back to the days of the 7.3L.

idk i think some of you guys need to see the opinions of the people that actually own these trucks, its not what the general consensus seems to be.

Most guys really like their 6.0 and 6.4. If properly taken care of they are great. If Ford would have spent a little more time on the 6.4 it would have been an awesome platform. The 6.4 is the only diesel engine in its era that you can just put an exhaust and tuner on and get 310-350 hp extra. Most can run the 275 in this platform and run it HARD. The trans holds and so does the engine for the most part.

The new 6.7 doesnt have too much a reputation yet.

Still.....EGR fail

nono....

they are 365 stock? i think. with a chip and exhaust you can add 275hp to the truck. Some even run the 310 or 350 but that is pushing it on stock head studs imo.

so you can spend 1600ish and make just over 500hp. i spent 1600 and run a 13.6 on my first ever run in the 1/4 mile on a 8000lb truck...

EGR is stupid easy and practically free to fix on the 6.4

I agree with Zach on this one. I have a 6.0 and love it.....no problems so far. The biggest problem with the 6.0's is that they didn't come with the gauges they really need. If the 6.0's came with the proper gauges stock, they would be far less problematic.

You just have to be aware of whats going on if you're a 6.0 or 6.4 owner.

I hopped in my 6.0 and drove it 3,000 miles to CA and back 2 months ago and would do it again right now with no worries at all.
