ZF trans parts

Where are you guys getting your ZF trans parts? I've used ZBAG once in the past, but the syncro quality seems low. Transparts warehouse seems to be OK, but I thought I'd see what others are using.

Yeah. I have the 7.3 and tranny out and on the bench/stand. 7.3 is getting a new oil pan, main/rod bearings and a couple odds and ends. Tranny is getting new bearings, syncros and sliders. I pulled it to put new injectors/cups and maybe headstuds, but A: It already has Rosewood Stage 1's so all i need is a chip and B: I scored another 7.3 from a SD that I'll keep and build as I have free time and cash

Nice. Any reason for not putting the stage 1's in the SD block/engine? What HPOP is in the OBS engine?

Going to use the SD's HPOP on the OBS. The SD engine will get a full rebuild while I run the other one. They both have 260k on them. I originally was just going to put an oil pan on the OBS, but after pulling it and checking bearings, it was time to do them. Cylinders still look ok though. Should have 325 hp

I'd like to build the SD within a year or two. Looking to get 550hp out of it, which should be do able on a decent budget.

Sounds like a solid plan. Guessing the SD 7.3 is a forged rod version?

Yeah. I've been keeping an eye out for an excellent bodied F250 or F350 at a good price with blown engine for the SD PSD to go in. Seen a few, but most want too much money because they're broke.

They're pretty simple. I've done one before, so no real big surprises. Pull yours out and start tearing into it.

Got the main/rod bearings in the 7.3 today. Started to replace seals that were leaking. Attempted the reseal the oil cooler, got one end on, couldn't get the other end on. Used tie downs, lots of lube, more lube and some more tiedowns. Attempted to gently press it on, press block slipped resulted in a cracked filter housing. No biggy, I'll rob it off the other engine. Going to have to pull the SD up pipes as the OBSs are worn at the gasket.

Stock turbo for now. Haven't purchased a chip yet. After talking with Rosewood, I think I'm going with PHP. Solid mass flywheel makes the tranny a little louder, but not to horrible. New clutch sure is a grabby SOB. I'll have to hook up the 35ft gooseneck and resolve that issue.

I loved my PHP tunes when I had stock sticks, I regret going with Beans after getting my new injectors . . .

What clutch did you go with? My ValAir was a bit jumpy for the first week or so. A few times pulling out the semi in the snow and that smoothed her out, lol.

I got that one. Has Valair printed on it. Then I used a Napa single mass flywheel. I've got $500 in the clutch, I thought that was a fair deal.

Looks like it might be the same one I have. If so, you'll like it.

Mine has held up to my needs and beatings, even pulling my 92,000lb semi across the farm yard when the driveshaft was out (of the semi)... Got to love the 7.3!

PHP 6 Position chip in route. I can't believe I'm saying this...but I hope work is slow so I can get it in and test run it. Also swapped ICP sensors, giving up my good ICP for his questionable one. I know my truck disapproves, hopefully his truck enjoys it so he can buy a new one.

OK, I put ATF in my plow truck this past summer, what the 89 ford shop manual said. Just making sure nothing changed on that tractor trans!
