06 Ranger, 7k miles...Bad balljoint?

Hey all. I have an 06 Ranger which is pretty much babied. It has 7k miles on it, and the only mods that have been done are 285/75/16 BS Duelers APT's, torsion crank 2" and rear 2" shackles.

But even before the T-bar crank, there would be a faint squeek under the LF side of the truck. Its only noticable with the window down, and the radio off, but it ONLY happens while driving over bumps, rocking the truck or bouncing the front end does nothing.

Im a service writer at an automotive center so I and many other people have lifted the truck and checked the front end numerous times. Everything is as tight as it can possibly be.

I know the only way to grease a OE Balljoint is to use a needle, but should I even need to? I mean, if this thing is going to be dropping joints this fast at 7k miles, what will it be like at 40k? or god forbid 75k?

Thanks in advance.

Would larger tires void the warranty? Im assuming shackles/T-crank would.

shouldnt be ball joints... they dont really squeek

It might be your sway bar bushings on the frame mounts.

The dealerships will tell you that anything you do will void the warranty, but they have to prove that the aftermarket parts you install caused the part to wearout/break. You might have to be a a$$ to the mechanic to get them to honor your warranty cause they dont want to do anymore work than they have too.

I really dont want anyone to have to do work that is a result of something I did though. Would a 2" t-bar crank ruin a ball joint? the angle isnt that extreme.

But hey, maybe its just a harmless squeek, and nothing to worry about. Nothing is lose yet.

exactly.. they cant legally deny your warranty without proving this

Inner tie rods?

Bought my 07 and at about mile 50 I was getting a slight clunk in the steering on occasion, ya i know its not a squeak. Took it in at about 3K and they changed the tiiner tie rods. They told me there was a TSB on them and that a lot of people were complaining about it.

If it truley is a TSB they should change them and you are definatly still in the milage and time frame of the warranty. If they give you **** about the tire and t-bars than I say go to a differant dealer or uncrank the t-bars (if you can with your tires) and bring it to a differant dealer.

As for warranty voids. They need to prove the noted item (tires in this case) caused the failure.

The way work as been declining in ford dealerships i doubt anyone would think twice about turning away warranty work on the small things you have done. My dealership and voided a couple warranties but its major mods like chip, nitrous, radical lifts that end up damaging high dollar parts and would be a major warranty claim. Just take it in and have them look at it they will prob throw a couple parts at it and see what happens.
