2001 4.0L Ranger Edge - What is it worth in the real world?
I am certain there are 98243098421 threads about this very topic but I am regretfully considering selling my beloved Ranger for something a little more family-friendly.
I just looked up KBB value and they came back with about $6800 for a good condition Ranger similar to what I have based on answers I have provided to that website.
Now, IMO, that seems to be a bit high and wanted to consult the forum as to what I'd realistically be looking at for asking price.
2001 Ranger Edge stepside, 4x4, Auto, 179,xxx miles
Really only needs ball joints at the moment and the cruise control stopped working after a visit to the dealer for a recall.
I agree the truck is in "good" overall condition however I question whether or not these trucks really hold their pricing that well in the real world.
In my mind, $5000 was the starting point but if I should put it up for more I certainly will.
What sayeth the forum?

In your opinion, would 5k be a "more than fair" starting point?
My thinking is to try and leave some wiggle room for a buyer to negotiate repairs if they desire but dont want a buyer to be turned off by a high asking price. I can't lie, it's been a long time since I've had to think about selling value of my vehicle.
Really, though, I wish I could just keep it. Fricken thing has done extremely well over the years and I'm going to miss it but I cannot pass up pursuing the purchase of this new vehicle so it's sort of bittersweet, to say the least.

Most excellent.
Thanks for the advice, peoples.
Pretty crazy how well these trucks retain their value, IMO......or maybe I'm that far out of the loop! lol
For those that are wondering, 4Runner Sport V8 is (hopefully) going to be the new rig. Just gotta square away some paperwork stuff but it's looking pretty good so far.
