CB plus Scanner

Um...I am. Unless someone forgot to tell me that this isnt online.
I see what your saying though. I searched radioshack for "CB scanner" and it gave me a bunch of antennas.
Minnesota state laws state that a scanner must be turned off while the vehicle is in on. But a flip of a switch can change that as the officer is walking up to my window.

It has a higher out put and is easier to peak and tune. My dad has one like that in his semi. He can get out and recieve up to 10 miles away. The proper antenna and CB setup would amaze you in performance.

Mom's house (where I live) is about 11 miles from the interstate (I-65). I could hear dad on my little rinky dink CB in the BII loud and clear (I could talk back on it though). I called him on the cell phone and told him to keep his trap shut. He didn't have a clue what I was talking about till I repeated his words off the CB back to him.

Theres such thing as a police scanner, I've never seen one combined with a CB though. My grandpa has a hand-held on in his truck that he uses. They have them at RadioShack

I run a Uniden Bearcat BC350C in my truck along with my CB , but with the Uniden you can pick up CB frequencys but you cannot transmit with the scanner so if you only wanna listen most scanners can do that but they cannot transmit, as far as i know.
**EDIT***
Just lookied up "Police Scanners Laws" on google and found this webpage, probably not a good defense in court but food for thought,

There is no such federal law of any kind.
There are a select few states that ban the use of scanners in motor vehicles unless you are public safety or a ham radio operator. Minnesota is one of them. You are not allowed to have a scanner in a motor vehicle in Minnesota unless you are a ham radio operator or a police officer.

Most places now are running on digital frequencys, not many people run on analog anymore so, good luck finding out your local SP Units FQ # or the local PD # as for getting caught...I know if your not on the FD, PD, or EMT youll have alot of explaining to do, not to mention its against the law to give frequencys out in NH, we have to have our radio's programmed by the state, and all radios in the trucks and ones issues to Dep. Chief & Chief are state issued radios. Not to mention if/when we transmitt or any radio at that fact it traces it back to us, and can pin point where were at.
I have a Digital Motorola XTS2500i thats state issued to me.

As for the actual radios, those are the property of whoever paid for them. If the state bought them for you, then the state can restrict who programs them. But that has nothing to do with everyone else in the state.

I never said they were secret by any means, most people just hear a squelch when they try to tune into the FD. Not in NH my friend, theres 2 Fire Departments that run on analog in NH, which is changing in June. I suppose if you can find the frequencys more power to ya if you have that much time on your hands, but 10-90 in NH is "Subject Has Scanner" Ticketable offence unless you have a good reason why exactly you need it.
Not to mention most waterheads with scanners dont know the 10 codes anyhow so if for some reason they spend upwards of $300 on a digital trucking scanner then they couldnt understand the 10 codes, or "police/dispatch talk"

Anyone looking for codes can just use www.radioreference.com and find them in the database, analog or digital, cop buddy of mine told me about the website.

there use to be.or maybe still is......a web site you coudl go to to listen to PD/FD scanners in certian cities for free......like LA , Detroit Etc. was kinda kewl......
i also find it funny that radar detectors are legal in some states and illegal in others......
are the states that ban scanners in vehicles also ban radar detectors? if not then they are contradicting themselves
Canada allows any analog transmission to be monitored but content of the communication may not be disclosed
