2006 Leftover Ranger prices?

I took some time Tuesday to look around at a few new trucks after seeing an ad in a local paper for a 3.0L/Auto Ranger for $13K, the truck advertised was pretty well equipped but was a short bed with an auto trans. I called that dealer to see if they had a long bed with a stick, but no such luck, the best they would offer was to locate one and that added $1000 the cost. They wouldn't offer a price on what it would actually be.

So far, I haven't seen any stick shift long bed trucks locally. I've seen plenty of stick shift shortbeds without air, but most have the 2.3L Mazda engine.
None seemed particularly willing to order an '07 either. They did offer me a better deal on the automatic shortbed, but I definitely don't want that. I am not particularly looking for a new truck, but if a deal came about, I'd jump on it. What I would want is a 4x2, 3.0L, 5 spd manual, long bed, with air conditioning and a radio. Preferrably in white, and in the Xl trim level, but that's not too important for the right price. I wouldn't have figured that that would be such a rare combo?

While the three dealers I talked to yesterday all were sort of willing to deal on trucks they had, I didn't hear any super great offers.
The best deal I saw was the 3.0L auto with air and AM/FM that was advertised for $12,999, but they then told me that all the Rebates don't apply to me, the $12,999 price was only if I financed it through Ford ($500 Rebate), a first time buyer ($500 Rebate), and a recent graduate ($1000 rebate). Since I am not a first time buyer, not a recent graduate and would be paying cash, the truck was now $15,999, but if I would settle for an auto and a shortbed, they would knock off a grand making it now $13,999. I suppose I could bargain a bit more if I went down there with cash in hand, but that's no the truck I would want anyhow so I didn't bother going down that road any further.

I figure if they can discount the 3.0L auto truck from the $18,999 sticker price down to $12,999, the truck I want is a much cheaper truck to start with and I should be able to find one well under $12k (or even less), if they really wanted to sell me a truck.

Has anyone seen any serious deals on any 2006 Rangers?

5 SP - long bed - 3.0 - long ago sucked up in fleet purchase
and I would not think they could discount that truck too much as it is a bare bones model already selling at low profit

I know this isnt quite the same, but I got my 06 Mazda 4.0 4x4 4 door for $14,600(sticker was 23k), so I would think you could get the truck you're after for pretty cheap if you could find one.

Ya but it also depends on who you know, and stuff. Alot of people on this board got their lvl2's in the teens, but theres alot of people on this board that have family that either work at ford, or worked at ford. or you know a guy at the dealer that can hook u up. Its like my crappy truck, sticker was 22,125 got it for 17K. thats WITH $4k in rebates. so the dealer only took off $1000 and wouldnt budge from that. where as my cousin, got a $46,000 F150 with ALL the trimmings, for like $26K. only cause he grew up with the guy that owns the dealer, but couldnt get me any kind of deal on my ranger.

well, I didnt know anyone or have any hook ups at this dealership. Even tho I worked for a dealership at one time I learned something new when buying this truck. Not sure if it works like this at all dealerships, but basically since this dealership I bought my truck from sells more trucks than most dealerships they get to offer much better rebates. I tried to deal with a smaller dealership and they would only take off $2,000 off the sticker price where as the dealership I got my truck from took off like $8,000. They said that Mazda gives them a certain amount of money so they can sell these trucks at really low prices and the dealership still makes money.

Sharp ford still has a 2006 stx 3.0 manual for 14.500. I bought my 06sport for about 18500 with x-plan. You do kno ford has the friends and family X-plan deal right? I have a friend on a forums page that hooked me up with it and the went from 25.200 to about 18.500. He may be able to hook you up.

Now I realize I haven't realy priced trucks in a few years, but how the heck are you guys getting the prices so low !?!?!?!?! When I bought my 03, stickers were in the 23-24k range. The BEST I got anyone down to was $16,500. How are you guys getting BRAND NEW trucks for less money than I paid in 03? Are these "basic" models?
