2011 ford ranger heads up
I recently purchased a 2011 ford ranger 4cyl. XLT. It was pretty hard to get ahold of due to the fact that I live in the north country (upstate NY) and all that sells up here are 4x4s. In anycase I wanted a 5spd, 4cyl but with the XLT package (fog lights, power, carpet, etc...) So after a terrible ordeal with the local ford dealership (they sold me a truck, literally, meanwhile they had not locked it in with another dealership that had it so it sold there too. I added it it to insurance and made a deposit payment and was going to pick it up on the day we agreed, and had I not called prior to leaving I would have showed up to pickup my non-existant truck. They did not even call me. Ok that took me a bit off track....So I find the truck I want that has all the criteria mentioned above. The dealership Van Bortels out in Rochester NY was great they hooked me up pretty good:
truck price 19130. I traded in a 2004 ford ranger V6 4x4 with 165,000 miles and rust everywhere for 3,000 and recieved an additional 5,000 in incentives (1,000 trade assistance since I was trading in a ford for a ford, 500 military, and 3500 from ford). All in all I left out of there with my truck and 12,790 less. Which is pretty good deal for brand new truck.
Ok if you have read this far, great, I will now tell you the issue. So on my ride home I suddenly realize that I do not have cruise control or the leather wrapped steering wheel. This sounds crazy that I did not see it because I checked out the truck really well prior to leaving. The main reason I did not catch this is beacuse I know I got the XLT package and it is standard on the XLTs so I figured it was good. But truthfully I did not really need the cruise since it is a manuel and I dont use it much anyway, but I did want the leather wrapped steering wheel. I got busy with work and other stuff and never called to inquire about this, but yesterday the dealership called me to see if I liked the truck and I told them about my issue. They researched it called me back and said in March of this year ford ran out of the steering wheel with the cruise and leather (since rangers are discontinued after this year). But the dealership said they just want me to be happy so they said they will cut a check to me for the amount that it would cost to install cruise. I was not expecting that so it is a pleasant suprise. But the overall point here is that if you go by a new 2011 that is not already on the lot, it most likely will not have the new steering wheel.
