2011 Ford Ranger thoughts and review
Hey all. This thread is more of "my opinion" than naything else. If you wanna critisize, do it someplace else! Any questions about it? Ill try to answer. Here we go:
So I am driving a 2010 Ford Mustang looking to trade it in for another truck. I had a massive 2003 F-150 King Ranch, 4x4, quad cab, 6 inch Fabtech lift, 20 inch rims wrapped in 36 inch Nitto Terras and she was slowly falling apart due to my teenage driving (burned up tranny and twisted off drive shaft and front end making odd noises). Anyways, I did the unthinkable and bought a Mustang. Big mistake. I missed that truck ever since!
About a year later, I decided to trade again and looked at everything under the sun including a Charger SRT8, Ram SRT10, FX4 F-150 and everything in between. I the nasked a dealer about incentives on Rangers and he said $6000 off. I was blown away! I test drove a 2011 Ranger sport, red, 4x4, extended cab, 4.0L and so on and was preety amazed by how it rode. It felt kinda big on the inside, especially after sitting on the floor in a low-riding Mustang. I brought it back after my test drive and long behold, there she was: Vista Blue, 4x4 on the side, and bright shiny chrome grill! I fell in love! The only thing I didnt particularly like was it wasnt a Sport but big whoop. I got my grandma, she co-signed, and $2800 later, she was all mine!
Its been almost 3 months now and the "OOO NEW VEHICLE!!!" feeling is wearing off and I see it as another vehicle now. I still love that blue! Deep blue metallic that shines beautifully when cleaned up! I would take this blue over black! (which is what I wanted). On the inside is plain when compared to my premium package Mustang but its got all youd ever need. Especially that button that has a swerving car on it :) Not too roomy but you get used to it, especially after driving a VW Bug and being 6' 2". Two tone cloth, bench seat so my lady can sit next to me, and automatic so she dont have a handle in her crotch either.
Engine wise: theres a reason I opted for the 4.0 and its definitly not gas mileage! Ronald Caster is why. I already had a M90 supercharger in my garage and when I read his kit requires an M90, I was in heaven. From the factory, shes not too peppy but can burn the tires off when needed thanks to a light a** end and 3.73 gears with Trac Lok (or whatever Fords is called). Im not too thrilled on the passing gear as you have to nearly put it to the floor before it kicks down and watch the gas gauge drop lol. But who buys a truck for gas mileage anyways?
3 things i totally and uderly dislike but cant do a thing about: I wish Ford would listen to us Ranger owners and make a Ranger wit 4 doors (crew cab, not extended doors that open), leather interior, and a V8. I dont care if its the out-dated 5.4! Any V8! And NO! A SPORT TRAC IS NOT A 4 DOOR, LEATHER, V8 RANGER! It has a 3 foot bed for cryin out loud! USELESS!
Thats my opinion on my 2011 Ranger. Sorry its long and drawn out but it says it all
