Airbag Problem

Today, I had to slam on brakes because some moron pulled out in front of me. My airbag light started flashing, and after a few minutes, turned solid. The code is 27 (2 flashes, pause 7 flashes). My PAD wouldn't illuminate after that either. I really don't think the light went bad right when I hit the brakes. My truck has done this before about a year ago- I got a code 27, the PAD wouldn't illuminate, adn then it came back on. What could be going on? I just don't get how slamming on the brakes caused a code 27 to appear! Thanks!

2-7 Flash code indicates burned out Bulb on the unit itself, it is a LED inside the unit with two small wires coming out of it onto the circut board and if they were already weak it could have snapped when you slamed on the brakes. Pull it out and replace the bulb with one from Radio Shack the last time I checked they were only like 1.47 or something. Somebody will chime in wiht the exact PART#

It may be a week or so before I can go to the dealership. Is it safe to drive it? Also, my truck is an '01 Model. Is it under warranty?

Yeah I drove mine for over 3 years with a 2-7 code never had a problem, it will be cheaper to do it yourself if you know anybody with a soldering iron its not hard just cut the bulb off and solder the new one on less than 2 dollars.

No you can't turn off the drivers, It is the passenger side dissable switch. Correct when it is burned out it flashes this code.
