I'm undecided myself. I have a FX4 and had them on for the first year. This year I've had them off.
Pros:
You don't get your pants dirty in the winter!!!!!! (the biggest reason I took them off)
Looks better IMO.
Is actually a little easier to get in IMO. My wife/girls feel it's harder.
Cons:
The girls can't get in as easy.
Sometimes it's handy to step on when washing the truck.
I'm putting a taller tire on this week and might try them again just to see.

Take them off, and if you miss having them, just put them back on.
I thought about removing mine. They don't serve much of a function on my truck, though they are good for washing and waxing the roof. The downside to having them is that they make the fuel filter harder to reach without jacking the truck up (coil spring 2WD).
What I do like about the OEM Ford steps on my truck is that they mount to the body, so if I ever do a body lift they won't appear to be mounted really low.

Mine are off at the moment and will probably stay off since I have the shorter tires. Wife doesn't like to ride in the truck anyway (I almost left her side on).
They have hung me up several times off-road. Everytime, I broke through the ice and the step bars are what caught. Yeah, I got out unassisted by rocking, but I'd have never gotten stopped if they weren't there.
