'94 Ranger 2.3l A/C recharge

What year did they start using 134a refrigerant? I want to recharge my A/C but cannot find any stickers under the hood nor info in the manual advising which refrigerant the '94's used. I'll want to get adapters if it took the old refrigerant or take it to the shop.
A google search indicated that the '94's used 134a...but the Haynes manual says otherwise.
Anybody know for sure?
Thanks

You should be able to tell by looking at it. AFAIK R12 systems use screw on valve stem looking ports while R134a uses snap on type ports.

Thanks EDGE! I took a quick look under the hood..."R134a" it is! That saves me a lot of worry!
Again...thanks. Much appreciated!
