Upgrading from 15" to 16" wheels/tires
Got a chance to snag a set of late model 16" OE Ranger Alloys with near new original tires.
My 03 Edge (2wd) has the original 15's with 28" tall Michelin 235/75x15.
The 16's are 255/70x16 (29").
The dealer tells me that I need to have my computers reprogramed (ABS,etc.) to compensate for the 1" taller tire. (2 hours labour?)
Is this the gospel or can I run them without reprograming?

Two hours labor to fix the speedo? Geez...
You will be fine. Chances are the stock speedo reads a little on the high side, it will probably be more accurate now.
If your speedo is dead on now, it will be off by around 2mph after the change. With an indication of 60mph, you would be traveling at 62mph. Again, I bet it will actually be more accurate.

I absolutely hated the Wrangler RT/S that came stock with my Sport Trac.
But I generally hate any low traction cheap all season stock tires, so I wouldn't know if the Michelin is any better.
I don't know what the wheels are worth, look around in the classifieds or ebay to compare. Personally I would have sold the 16's from my Sport Trac for a few hundred bucks, and the tires would basically be 'free' because I don't like them at all.
It depends on what they are worth to you. There are a lot of aftermarket wheels out there that are nice, and inexpensive.
Keep in mind that 16" tires normally cost a little more than 15" tires when it comes time for replacement as well.

Dude your dealer is just stupid. You should do this...
You: Well if i need reprogrammed then why do you guys sell FX4 LVL 2 rangers with 31 inch tires>?
Dealer: Theyre programmed for bigger tires
You: strangers on the internets told me youre an idiot.
*edit* dude it doesnt matter. Throw whatever size tire you want on your truck nothing needs changed.
