yeah my od ligt use to flash on and off. now the button wont work. IT wont go into overdrive on the free way so now when i am going 75 im at like 3500 rpms. I have 35's and 456 gears. It shifts really hard into first and secound. I heard a lot of the new ranger trannys for the 4.0's go out around 70,000

yikes! don't say that, I just rolled over 70k!

I heard it's not terribly difficult to rebuild if ya shell out the money for a service manual and don't mind getting really, really dirty. Otherwise it looks like you're gonna hafta take it by a tranny shop..

If you get that fixed right away... sometimes its just a valve body.. or sensor.
How often did you change the fluid.. I bet the 35's made it real hot.

mine has lost reverse just before xmas

106k on it

ive been calling around and found out ford put low temp seals in where hi temps would be needed allowing fluid where it isnt soppose to be. My trans still shifts nice and firm in drive thanks to the trans go shift kit, which is the only thing keeping it alive.

Remove pan.
Remove and clean the two solenoid valves.
(including the internal screen in each solenoid)
Fresh filter and fluid.
