Kiltro,so why are you defending him then, cause you dont know all the facts either! i know alot of people that say they had a couple beers which in their case means 6,7,10! no one knows how many he had except him all we know he was wrong for what he did and shows no concern except for losing his licence, which is pretty childish
#28
no one is saying their saints, but whats bothering most of us or at least me is the fact that the op is more concerned with losing his license than the fact he did anything wrong, it doesnt sound like he understands that what he has done was wrong and couldve been alot worse
#29
yup thats right. got my warn manual hubs put on the other night and was testing them out yesterday, all was good. decided to drive to the store after TOO MANY beers(me) and apparently got a little too far over the yellow line, saw headlights coming tried to slow down and swerve but didnt happen as quick as i hoped, clipped the guy driver's corners, hit the ditch and busted a power pole in half.
No sympathy just because you apparently went over the line.

Since he was impaired by the alcohol he drank I would say he did something wrong. Whether it was a whole keg or a sip, he stated that the beer was the main factor and he was arrested so it is safe to say he was Driving under the influence. He could have killed someone or maybe even worse injured someone in a way they would have to suffer for the rest of their lives. This makes his decision stupid. I hope he gets punished greatly and when he does get behind the wheel again he thinks about his decision. He could have posted the same story and said "Man I was a bonehead and I could have killed the guy I hit! This was a big wake up call it will never happen again." and I would have supported him. Instead he was whining about how much this is going to cost HIM, what the police did to HIM, what the court might do to HIM. Not cool in my book.
My advice to the OP, Grow up, think about what you did, and what you could have done. take it like a man, and when you come out on the other side make a change. Quit drinking if you have too, call a cab, a rickshaw or a sled dog team if you can't get a buddy to drive you.

Not for sure but only apparently?!?!?! You did or you didn't! Say exactly how many and some people may lighten up on you! By saying apparently it tells us you had too many and didn't know you were over the line.
No sympathy just because you apparently went over the line.

FYI I dont drink for that very reason. He was obviously under enough influence NOT to prevent the accident. Weither or not he had enough to be above the legal limit doesn't matter. He was influenced enough to get in an accident PERIOD.

martin, be thankful that you didn't kill anyone. take your licks and move on with your life. if i remember correctly, your young. you have your whole life left to learn. take this as a blessing that worse didn't happen and learn from it. as hard as it is, try and find positive things to from being eaten alive with guilt. you didn't kill anyone or yourself. that is very positive in my book.
there are a lot of members on here that are being harsh and with reason. this is as serious as they come. however, i feel it's wrong to look down on from your high horse. i'm willing to bet that the majority of us have all done stupid things. looking back and saying "wtf was i thinking?" myself included. marty feels like $h!t and probably doesn't need everyone piling it on as thick as it's been.
good luck to you martin and to answer your questions, you could get anything from your license being taken away for life to volunteering 200 hours and forced to take AA or something like it. whatever the judge sees fit to give you. the cost is difficult to determine. lawyers, court costs, victim surcharges, eventually getting your license back or a breathalyzer enabled starter for your car can all be costly.
since the questions have come up, do you remember exactly how many beers you had or your breathalyzer results from being arrested? would you be willing to post them up? also, why was your license taken the first time?

I'm by no means defending the OP, he obviously had a few too many as you can tell his reaction time was way down just by the way he described the accident. there's a reason why at the end of every alcohol commercial they say to enjoy "responsibly"
To the OP, get out the lube and pray that you have good lawyer because this is gonna cost you jail time or upwards of 10k if he can get you off.

i edited my post but others responded....
i think the have to legally put "drink responsibly" as a legal action so they would not be held liable. too many people suing and with having that in place kinda says, "well we told them to drink responsibly. not our fault" *washes hands*

so you've never had a (as in 1) beer at an office christmas party, or watching monday night football with the boys or after a very difficult day at work and driven home after that.

So to answer your question, no I have never had "one" and then driven.

its amazing how times have changed. at work i heard stories about back in the day with drinking and driving from some of the senior drivers so and so would have spiked coffee or so and so had a case in the trunk. road beers was term i heard. even from my rents'. like it was the norm. now your so confined about how much you can have in your system and how much you can loose. hell MADD has only been around since 1980 in the states and 1990 here in canada.

i hope it gets locked too. gonna call ICBC and get them to take a look at my truck and see what they figure its worth. im not looking sympathy, i deserved what happened, i am a little nervous about court though as i've never had this happen before.
my boss's brother got pulled over for drinking and driving and had to go to court also and all he got was his license taken away for 3 months.
i saw the vehicle coming towards me and i wasnt really going that fast, under the speed limit, but i hit the brakes and tried to swerve but damn.... hmmmmmm.................. i had the driver's side of the truck on yellow line but i guess i didnt swerve enough... shoulda stayed home!!!

talk to a lawyer about court. they have done this before and know what to expect.
like mentioned learn from it. every time this happens its not a 3 months suspension. keep that in mind. it gets tougher every time. eventually they don't give back the license.
