Another FORD recall....

I don't know if it's the same recall posted recently, but I just got a letter from Ford concerning my 96 Ranger...

I believe it was recall #09s09. Something to do with a sensor or switch around the master cylinder that can leak & cause a fire.

The letter didn't specify which year rangers are affected, but it would be repaired free of cost.

The nearest dealer to me said it's a 20-30 minute job (I'd bet it's a 3 hour job if you're paying for it) where they inspect the switch/sensor and add a fusible link.

I'm going to the nearest dealer tomorrow for my repair appointment.

yes any with cruise.

guy's it takes longer for the tech to write it up then to do the recall repair. actually they where done with my truck before the write up was done it doesnt even need to leave the service drive...

it pays for like 0.1 or something tiny like that...

open hood. unplug plug in new harness in 2 spots and close hood..

it pays 0.2 and the only reason it should take longer than 10 mins is if they have to change the switch because it is leaking

05s28 and 09s09 are the same recall

Starting in 2001, The Deactivation Switch also became an input to the 4WABS module. That means that all 2001~2003 Rangers affected by the recall are fitted with the Deactivation Switch regardless of whether they have speed control or not. Earlier years in the recall were cruise control only.

2003 Rangers only

For 2003 Ranger owners, it appears that a mid year running change affects the recall. From what I've been able to dig up, it looks like 2003's built after December 5, 2002 are OK and not included in the recall. [Your truck's build date is printed on the Vehicle Certification label on the driver door or jamb.]

However, if you do get a recall notice, definitely take it in. This is a serious safety issue.

Funny I already had this done on my truck when I bought it Jan 09, and its a 2000.

They just plugged in a jumper harness and a fuse and wrapped everything back up.

But considering I got the truck at a stealership, maybe they new more than we do and did the recall anyways even tho its not a listed year. I would at least call the stealership and ask if your an out of year ranger.

Nope.

Listed a few posts up was the model years being recalled. You'd receive a letter if you needed the recall. My 01 was done last year.

When I brought mine in last year, they just unhooked the cruise control because the harness/relay thingy was on back order. A few weeks later the dealership called to say they had the parts in.

You'll get one if your truck falls within the recalled build dates and if they can track you down. Did you check your truck's build date yet?
