Marathon Gas Opinions

I was wondering what anyone's opinion was of the quality of Marathon's gas. I have been using it ever since I moved up here because its right by where I live, especially since I got my tuner and have been using Premium 93 Octane. They have 10 cents off premium gas on the weekends so that is the biggest reason I use them.

I haven't used anything else since I have been putting premium in my gas tank so I am wondering if I am okay using their gas versus other gas companies.

Any opinions would be great, thanks.

I use Marathon in my Truck all the time, actually that is all I use. 87 octane for mine though as it does not need anymore. I use BP for my car so I have no detonation, it is Turbo so I dont need that. All in all no complaints about Marathon, they are always cheaper then BP and get 19-20 MPG on the highway with it. Hope that is what you were looking for.

I have always been told to buy gas from name brand gas stations (No 7-11s, Circle Ks, etc...) We have Marathon stations down here too so I guess they are a "big" company. If you haven't been having problems using their gas, I don't see why you can't continue to use it. You may want to snag a tank or two from Shell or Exxon and see if you notice and difference in your trucks performance (Way it runs, etc...).

From day one I have been running Exxon 89/93 and haven't had problems. I started to use Sam's Club 87 and my truck started to knock and perform like a$$. My truck wouldn't ping on thier 93 but it would feel sluggish. I switched back to Exxon and have no problems.

check the octane rating for the prem........ i bet it's 92 instead of 93.
when i hauled gas for marathon, we splashed blended the prem making the prem 92 octane. most people don't catch it

Hmm it says 93 on the sign and on the pump unless they changed it or its really 92 and supposed to be 93. Wonder if that would make that much of a difference runnin 92 on a 93 program.

you get the exact same gas no matter where you go... the branding is only the additives that are put in...

then it must be 93

if you see the fuel tanker there, ask the driver. tell him some of the stations blend down the prem to 92. that way he want think you are saying that he is goofing up

I use Marathon all the time when I go home on leave. That's what my mom and dad use, so I use it. Sometimes, with the Mustang I go to the Mobil, just because it has a larger full-up area, and I am paranoid of someone hitting my car.

Marathon gas stations are an east of the Mississippi company same as Sunoco gas stations..... I have heard of both before being originally from Long Island New York, but here in Southern California the most popular gas stations are Shell, Mobil, Texaco, ARCO, UnoCal (Union 76) and the numerous independant (mom and pop) gas stations.....
Presently I use Texaco and ARCO.
