Another tuner thread...

I know there is lots of these threads, but I can't find all the info I'm looking for.
I want to get a tuner for my truck. I know they're not always the best way to go, but I'd like one that I can just buy and plug in.
There is a few options I can get from work... they are:

Diablosport Predator U7157
Superchips Flashpaq 1865
Superchips Mileage XS 1516

It's mainly between the Flashpaq and Predator because I don't see the point in the Mileage XS if the Flashpaq has a Mileage XS tune and it's only about $30 cheaper.

I like the sound of the Flashpaq with the mileage tune because that's really what I'm looking for. But I can also use the towing tune when I have the trailer on, and adjust for my 33's.

Does SCT make anything similar, a plug and play unit?

Do any of these work on a Mac computer? Do they need to be updated before using the first time? I have access to a regular PC at work, but all I have is Macs at home.

Like I said above, I'm most concerned with helping my mileage. If I can even get 1mpg better it'll be more than 1/2 paid for in a year of driving. I plan on keeping the truck for much longer than that, though!

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure that the superchips products only work on PC's and NOT Macs. I have the Flashpaq 1865 and am happy with it so far. have had it for about 2-3 weeks now and still playing with the settings and adjustments.

Is there a Mileage XS tune in it as well? I was just going by the picture I saw of one, and it showed it on the screen.

Well I've been doing a bit more research... I've found out the Flashpaq does have the Mileage XS tune in it, meaning for the slightly higher price of the Flashpaq it is well worth it.
I think I've decided against the Diablosport too, since it will only work on a 07-08 Ranger. The Flashpaq will work on Mustangs, F-Series, etc so down the road I can still use it. I plan on keeping this truck, but you never know what'll happen and from what I've read you can pay to add on other vehicles. $199 or something like that... I have my Mustang up for sale, and plan on getting a newer one so it may save me some cash later on.

So, I think I've nearly made up my own mind on this one... I think I'm going to go with the Flashpaq. One last question... is the Superchips Cortex worth the extra $40 for just the two year powertrain warranty?

I think the cortex has the warranty and also can do BOTH gas and diesel engines where the flashpaq only does one or the other.

Okay, thanks. So it doesn't look like it's worth the extra. I've ordered the Flashpaq and should have it Saturday morning!

Everyone says the sct x3 is the best so im saving to buy that, they run at about 400 and everyone says it does wonders on a auto trans. Check out brenspeed or rouge performance.

What he said. SCT is pretty much the best way to go... but which tuner to go with is another problem...

no lol just email them, brenspeed is more of a mustang place and rouge is more of a homemade webpage style, both have awesome reputation on ford ranger forums, they say either one is good.
