I prefer the "styleside" or straight bed for capacity. Many prefer the look of the stepside -- and they do look nice on some trucks. But I choose straight -- actually I choose that in OTHER aspects of my life as well, lol!

I prefer the stepside because there's always a spot that the branches don't touch when out wheeling.

Although I personally prefer the Styleside, I think Ford is making a mistake in eliminating the Flareside for 2005. IMO, many Ranger sales have been made or heavily influenced by the availability of the Flareside option.

Gone for 05. Still some leftover 04s at the dealers. Last chance for a new one!

I agree.

I like having a Styleside, but I like Flaresides too and it is a shame to see them replaced by a Mazda bed.

The Mazda semi-stepside isn't offered either. The new Rangers are Stylesides, no other choice is offered. Check Ford's site and see if there are any pictures or feature packs that had stepsides in them.

I personally like my stepside, but was a bit hesitant at first. It's an acquired taste. The look is nice, but you do lose some cargo space.
I prefer the Mazda version which isn't so cut on the outside. I believe it has the same loss of interior cargo space.

The best benefit is the fiberglass shell, which makes it more ding resistant than metal. My wife whacked the side on the bed once with a floor tile, and only left a tiny scratch in the paint. A metal bed would have surely been dented.

Oh well, not the first time Ford killed a good idea.

I hesitated when I bought my new truck with the stepside, but it has grown on me.
