DPFE could it be that easy?

I have recently bought a 01 edge 3.0 86K I was getting about 15 MPG.. I thought i should be getting around 20 or so. It was a little rough at idle so i thought a tune-up was what it needed. Then I pulled my trailer with it for the first time and the MPG went way down to about 10 and stayed there even after i parked the trailer.

Then came the tune-up. It has not helped but the mechanic did notice the the engine check light didn't come on turning the key to on. He thinks that someone took the bulb out. So he checked to codes. EGR and #2 misfire. He suggested replacing the DPFE sensor.

So my question is... Could it be that easy?

Thanks,

Yes it can, they commonly go bad. That should fix you up.

it could always be something else, but my first guess would be the DPFE. the bulb could be burned out too.

Replace the bulb and the DPFE sensor. reset the codes then you will have to asses the misfire code too if it returns

Thanks guys.. Changed the sensor and am already seeing a huge difference. Still a little rough at idle. I'll have to figure out the number 2 misfire next. Hopefully its not that big of a deal. I'm thinking coil.
