Chevy Truck Tailgate Cap

So in my never ending quest to find Edge style bed rails locally I got thinking about them on my truck. I was thinking that my over the rail bed liner will no longer work and I was thinking the the bed sides are going to be about 2 inches higher than the tailgate because of the extra plastic.

Then I was thinking about my dads 09 Sierra. And the tailgate cap that comes factory on Silverados and Sierras.

This one:

LOL HYBRID TRUCK!!

And with a little investigating I found that the Colorados come with them to on certain packages.

If I found one of these caps either off a Colorado that I will have to modify or one that an aftermarket company makes that looks similar I think it will match nicely with the Edge bed rails and it could become a new mod, if it works. Maybe I will pop into Chevy and see how much they want for them.

My word, people actually want these horrid "edge" caps? I had them on my 2001 XLT when I picked it up from the dealer brand new. I stopped in a gas station near by and took them off cause they are hideous. they were on there for one week (I ordered my pickup and since I lived in minnesota it arrived at the dealer a week after assembly). In that week there were a ton of scratches that needed a lot of buffing to get out, and there were a handfull of dents in the top of the bed rails from the clamping down. I threw them away a year or two ago, I forgot they were in the rafters and I stumbled on them when I was cleaning the garage.

the don't look horrible but..they dont look great or anything. And they deff only stick about 1/3 inch above the bed. So are you just trying to overaccessorize?

I personally love the look of the bed rails. There are one of my favorite plastic accessories that Rangers ever came with.

If John lived closer to me it would pain me more that he threw them away as I would have given him $50 for them easy. And since they looked new as you say I would have gone higher. Oh well, to late anyway, your lose.

I have heard similar stories of them being throw away, paint tested on, cut and generally discarded.

Some people love them, some hate them.

So I popped on coloradofans.com and made this thread:
Chevy Colorado & GMC Canyon • View topic - Tailgate Cap

What they told me was that that accessories is an over-the-counter add on for Colorados.

They are $87 MSRP!!

That's about right though for the stealership.

I guess some of the guys have them laying around. Maybe I will pick one up.
