can I get some input

Im having a problem with my drivers side cv shaft this is the 3rd one I have got
the first replacement one broke very easly, I barly put it in 4 wheel drive hit the gas and crack
the second one looked different from the first one they gave me and it held up to some pretty good beating
the 3rd one looked just like the first one, and after I put it on i was checking it out and noticed that
it is about to pull apart just sitting there on flat ground, I can feel the vc joint hanging out of the cup on the top, (threw the rubber boot)
here is a pictire you can kinda see it threw the boot, so I got to looking around on the net trying to find the lenghths
and they say the compressed length is 23 and 3/8 long, so i got to looking at explorer lengths
and found one they say is 26 inches long... it should work rite?

it says in your sig that you have the RCD lift. do you know if the cv spacers where installed when the lift was done? the lift came with spacers that compensated for the increased cv angles.

yes I have the spacers in but they are only about 3/8ths thick and the cv still seems like its a couple inches short
I went down and haggled with them (checkers) and they will give me a new one but it is the exact same
I tryed to get them to compare shafts to try and find a longer one but they wont, so I got my money back

Yes he has the spacers.

Koyn what year is that explorer shaft for? 2.5" of extra length makes me think it would be to long. I'd start looking for some used stock CVs, the stocker held up the best of all so far.

I think the auto parts gave me a explorer cv when I ordered a new one becuase it was long, longer than my extended cv's from ryan. I never installed it because I got ryans extended ones but I know there was no squeezing it in like a regular cv. You would have to pull the whole knuckle off

Yeah thats the newer explorer thats not based on the Ranger anymore. I just can't imagine you'd be able to fit a CV that long in there. 2.5" is a lot of length when you're trying to squeeze into that knuckle.

x2

Autozone gave me some longer ones by accident and there was no way they were fitting.
