Door Ajar

This might seem like a stupid question but......where is the switch for the door on the drivers side? I'm used to a button in the door jamb somewhere.
My truck is an 02 xlt
Occasionally the door ajar dash light stays on for a while.

on the ranger it is a circuit. so when the metal latches touch and other points on the door touch it knows the door is closed..im guessing you came from a toyota? there is no hard and fast button. how long is "a while" because my light stay on for maybe a second or two after i shut the door

No toyotas here. Every car I have ever owned has had some type of button in the door jamb. 94 dodge van, 03 caravan, 97 escort, 97 t-bird, pontiac 6000, 81 F250.

Thanks for the info, I can stop scratching my head and just wipe the grease off the latch.

It's a pin switch inside the door and the latch moves it in and out. Just do like Jacob said and spray a bunch of WD in there and slam it a bunch of times and it will free up.

well i did some investigating since i have all my interior out....on the pass. side behind kick panel noticed there was a gray/black wire cut..that was my door light wire..reconnected and worked fine. noticed today the dome light was stayin on. guess thats why the wire was cut....marinated door latch with WD40 and all is well again...lol thanks for the great info!!
