Slip Tanks
#4
A Canada thing? Maybe it is. Didnt' really think about that.
But yes, it's a fuel tank you keep in your bed. Doesn't always have to be fuel for your own truck though. It's pretty common for heavy equipment operators to carry a slip tank on their truck for fuelling their machine.
Are slip tanks really a Canadian thing?
Cheers,
D., a different D.

They are called transfer tanks. Legally only diesel can be held in them and not gasoline. Gas is flammable whereas diesel is only combustible. Also the trucks fuel system cannot be directly hooked up to the said tank, technically is has to be transferred to the stock tank; hence transfer.

Diesel-only might be the law in the US, but not in Canada. As long as the tank meets the TDG(Transportation of Dangerous Goods) Act specs, any fuel can be carried - petrol, diesel, etc.
Never heard them called "transfer tanks" before. Must be an American thing.

Not offended at all. No worries. I was just surprised that you had never heard of them before. I thought that maybe they were just a Canada thing.
Just about every rig rocket around here has a slip tank, but then, most of them are 3/4 ton and up. I have seen a few Rangers at the rigs, but none with tanks.
So, no Rangers with slip tanks?

D., another D.
