Buying a 01+ Ranger.

Hey Guys,

I have a real nice 98 nascar roush edition f150 with the 4.6.

I'm pretty much sick of putting gas in it, so i'm selling it and looking at a 2wd ranger.

Actually i'm looking at a 99+ ranger, but would prefer an 01+ with the duratech.

Whats average mpg for 5 speed, or automatic for the 99 versus the 01+

Anything to look for in a lower mileage one (less than 60k)

I'm looking to spend about 6500 cash, it might be a tight budget but i think i can get what i want for that.

Ideally i want a 4 cylinder with a extended cab but i don't think i'll get that.

Thanks guys,
JH

Hmmm, well I guess the best I can do is comment on what kind of mileage I get, in my 02' Reg. cab 6 cyl. 3.0 I can get 20-21 mpg (mostly highway) or 18-19 (all city).
If that's not a great gauge for you, do a search for gas mileage and there have been many threads where people ask what others get for mileage. You can look through those and see who has what specs and what kind of mileage they are getting.

There are tons of 4 banger supercabs around. I'm sure you can find a nice one to fit your needs.

Rangers don't have Duratecs, unless you referred a DOHC 2.5/3 4 cyl. as one of the catagory.
