3" BL question

i know this question has been answered before, but i can't find the thread anywhere...

i'm planning on putting a 3" BL on my truck... which years of kits will work? i seem to remember the 98-00 kit works, but doesn't have the e-brake bracket, and the 01-04 kit works? (for my 07)

i think there is only to separate kits 98-00 and 01+ i know the 01+ kid works on 98-00 but im sure if it works backwards also. Id guess if it doesnt it would just be missing a piece like the e-brake bracket you mentioned.

James, is your truck a 5 spd or auto? I know when a buddy did the 3" BL in his '07 FX4 5 spd they neglected to mention that he needed the shifter extension (meaning the shifter basically can't get out of neutral cause it hits the body). I had to lend him my Ranger for a couple of days until the shop could get it in for him, a minor PITA. Just something to remember when ordering, IIRC with most kits its sold seperately. LR

Here it is dude...
https://www.ranger-forums.com/f102/b...vaganza-83805/

The Summit Kit is listed as 98-00 it will work on all 98+ trucks. Also a 98-00 Kit will work on 01-08 trucks only thing missing is parking brake extension which isn’t needed..

indeed! it is a 5 speed, and i have known about the potential for that issue, i didn't know the severity though, i will make sure i get the shifter extention with the kit! thanks Matt

probably a dumb question... but will the 83-88 kit work on the newer ones also? i would think they wouldn't, but it's 100$ cheaper on ebay (roughly)

that's a pretty good deal... i'm looking at one on amazon.com, 183 for the kit, not sure about shipping... and i would need the shifter extention... any one know how much the shifter extention should cost? i know what they are asking for it on amazon, it seems high, but i don't want to bias anyone's answer by saying what they are charging... thoughts?

Last time I checked, the shifter goes for around $30+ shipping.

You need a 98+ body lift.

And don't b!tch out Evan. Doesn't make you look any better.

Well you know, I was trying to help your ignorant self out, but apparently you can't see past the bullsh!t you speak. I wasn't going to, but no one else had given you a price. So I gave you one.

Im not sure that you need to shifter extension. I put a 3" BL on my 96 and I have a 5spd man and I bought the shifter extension but thought itd be cool to leave it low becuz itd be sort of like a "short throw" shifter. anyways, all i had to do was modify the plastic console around the shifter for 2nd 4th and maybe reverse. But the plastic i ground away is hidden by the shifter boot itself so it looks totally factory and youd never kno if you didnt kno what I had done. But again this is on my 96 so im not sure if its different?

i just did one on my 08 i used the PA 01-06 think you would be fine using the 98-00 kit i installed the ebrake bracket but im going to pull it off i couldnt install it like the instuctions said to and my ebrake goes all the way to the floor when i set it also i didnt need the filler neck or vent tube extinsions my stock hoses were long enough and the vent ext. supplyed in the kit was to big all my grounds were long enough that i also didnt need the extenders
