My blue fog light switch mod (part 1)

Not much to show really. Just take apart the radio bezel and remove the fog light switch. Once you take it apart carefully simply unsolder and resolder the new LED. I bought a 3mm LED from superbrightleds.com (79 cents or something)

I measured the stock resistor at 616 ohms, and I knew this would be fine for the new LED.

I guess the only thing you can screw up here is put the LED in backwards.

nice shot man. i had a crappy camera and crappy lighting...so i never showed my shots off. great man.

I have like 10,000mcd 3mm's...and i'm thinking the stock resister is not resisting enough....there's some red light someing through even though the switch is turned off.

I just took off my safety goggles from dremeling the opening from the screw-in LED and i'm putting in a "3led" bulb in there. Now the fixed and screw-in LED are both blue.

This is an easy mod.

3mm LED's and 5mm LED's work good here.

The on indicator will be a 3mm

The logo indicator will be a 5mm

I recommend going on superbrightleds.com and buying these if you want to do this. They have many colors. I would chose the frosted "360" degree style for the logo indicator.

From my findings, if you only use this switch to trigger a relay for aftermarket foglights, through your front factory fog wiring, then the little dot that is lit up by the 3mm LED will not stay on. It blinks but goes right back out. I've tried every combo I can think of and a couple different resistors and it still only blinks. It won't stay lit. The big light icon stays lit just fine though.

Then use it to trigger a transistor instead.

I'd be totally lost cuz I have no idea what you're trying to say. Yes, I'm that ignorant with electronics...

But it will stay on if powering an aux 'new' setup like for KC's or Piaa's or whatever. I plan on investigating my diagrams and here to make my fogs independent of the headlight switch and I fully expect to have my 'on' indicator working properly. Might have to rewire the whole shibang after reading your post.
