k got my cb all working and ready for action, anyone give me some general rules, lingo whatever for survival???

Just don't use it as a toy. Most people on the radio don't appreciate immaturity.

 

x2. Every so often when we choose to use them we'll get some moron with whips on a 4x4 70/80's K1500 who thinks it's funny to say foul words or play music into the mic . . . we only rarely find them but it is incredibly irritating when you're trying to locate someone.

 

ya i hate when they play the music i don't ever really talk on mine unless offroading or on a road trip listening for smokey bears

 

I have an echo box, and 7 tone roger beep on mine. If you plan on adding these to yours, remember to NOT over use them. Dont annoy the others on the air. As far as lingo, stay away from the Smokey and the Bandit movie stuff. Nobody uses that stuff anymore.

 

Get a bunch of your friends and play Cb tag. We had our own channel to not **** off truck drivers. CB tag was probably one of the most fun times I ever had with my buddies when I was in high school.

Now my question is if say you and a friend are on a trip (2 cars) is there a way to make it a channel for just you two.. and is it okay to just have a conversation between cars?

Just pick a channel other than 19 and the emergency channel like channel 9 I think

You can have a conversation back and fourth nothing wrong with it.
Beware you cant lock it so anyone can listen in if they stumble upon it.

I have 2 hand held walkie talkies, and you can lock the channel so unless someone figures out what the lock channel is they cant listen.

 

Ok then you have never been near the truck stop near my house. You would not believe some of the nastiest crap that those truckers talk about on there.

 

Yes, you can both run on any cannel you want and carry a conversation. Truck drivers use ch. 19. so if you want to hear about traffic/radar traps, that's the channel you will have to be on.

 

Yea, channel 9 is for emergency use only. Most bigger cities monitor this channel.

 

I never said that everyone was perfectly polite on the radio, I hear some messed up stuff on the radio too. Just don't be annoying.

 

Oh, I know. I was just saying that there is some nasty talking stuff on there. We have a **** shop right next to our truck stop so you can just imagine some of the stuff they talk about.
