Changing Cruise Control Light in Cluster
After reading this fabulous thread, https://www.ranger-forums.com/forum2...ad.php?t=65263, I was able to finally change the bulbs in my instrument cluster. Well the next day I go to set my cruise and the indicator light in the cluster was not lighting up. I don't remember if there was a bulb that I could change when I had the whole thing tore apart and I don't want to go through that again if there isn't. So my question is, is there a bulb in there that I can take out and change just like the rest of them? Could I maybe have pulled a wire out of one of the electrical connnectors? Or maybe knocked something else loose back there?

I have never opened the cluster in my 2008 B4000, but I know in my 1998 Mountaineer (same dash as Ranger/B-series/Sport Trac), the indicator lights, including the cruise were small incandescent bulbs that were relatively easy to replace and did go out on occasion. I can't speak for anything else, as I have no prior knowledge. If I recall correctly, it was a 194 bulb.
On the Mountaineer, when you remove the cluster, the back of the cluster has all kinds of sockets protruding from the back. You turn them counter-clockwise and pull them from the circuit board...replace the bulb...put it back in by lining up the alignment tabs and turning clockwise until it stops. They are all labeled with what function each light serves.
I would replace every single bulb in the cluster while I had it out to save the hassle for the next time it goes out. You can replace the main illumination bulbs for the gauges with blue bulbs or LED's and get a neat effect at night...not my cup of tea but a lot of guys do it.
