couch came flying out my pickup on highway
Last night i was on my way home from my aunts house picking up a couch for my bedroom. I'm on the Longisland expressway..not really watching my speed, when all of a sudden, the couch goes flying out of the bed!!!. I was like Holy Sh.T!!!! wtf?!!? it came flying out.bounced a couple of times, and then went to the right into the shoulder. LUckily., noone was hurt. and noone was behind me on the highway.!! all in all. i was like... holy hell.. that was awesome!.beacuse i had no idea i coulda done that..next time it's the backroads the whole way home. =] =] =] no damage done to the couch whatsoever!

Hahahaaaaa that's great. I'm just happy no body was behind you though. Even if it's a heavy couch, it's a brilliant idea to strap it down... you can plan to drive slowly and carefully, but you never know when you may have to brake/accelerate/swerve quicly, and if that couch isn't strapped down...welll, never know..

I had a close call once with a guy with two rocking chairs in the back of a Ranger...Not strapped down, tailgate up... I was behind this guy watching them rock back and forth and finally, they both simultaneously rocked over the side of his truck and smashed into pieces in the middle of the road. I swerved and dodged it...the guy behind me nailed them. He was in some sort of smaller car and was clearly out of service after the incident. The guy who lost the chairs just kept driving...not so much as a brake light.

Wow, where can I find these flying ladder trucks? I'll follow em all day long.

I had an eye opener my last trip down to Ok. I was in southern Mo and a pickup that was just to the left & front of me had it's entire plastic bed liner fly straight upwards about 50ft!
It landed in the center median and this guy NEVER SAW IT. I was watching him almost the whole time to see what his reaction was going to be.
LOL.. I was laughing pretty hard thinking about him when he finally notices it's gone. LOL.. I bet he thinks someone "stole it".

guy i do work with was telling me once about one of his first work vehicles... it had a ladder raack on the top of it...
he loaded this rack up way past the max load amount, strapped everything down and went on his way. there was enough lumber to build a 16 by 12 foot deck on this rack, lol.
first red light he came to, he stopped, but the ladder rack didn't, lol. the entire thing ripped right out of his bed and went into the intersection ahead of him... lumber was still strapped down and all, lol.
he said it was the most embarrassing thing ever, but couldn't stop laughing the entire time as ppl were pulling over trying to help him put his ladder rack and lumber back on his truck

years back when i sold my house in brooklyn and moved to NJ i was taking a load of old furniture to the NYC sanitation dump ( back before the budget cuts) and i was coming along the belt parkway when i lost a mattress.. i kept going it was like 11Am the day of the closing and didnt have alot of time.. anyway it stayed there for a couple of hours lol you know youve hit the big time when you hear " someone lost a mattress that is blocking the right lane on the west bound Belt Parkway just past Knapp Street" on 880 AM lol
another time i lost a bookcase off the top of the cap on the interboro parkway... i also kept going and that was tied down... the wind broke the yakima rack on there causing the liftoff lol

It's been a long time since I left L.I. Use to live in Lake Ronkonkoma. Last time I was there, about 14-15 years ago, I didn't think any land on the island was undeveloped. LOL
Many years ago I was on the 405 freeway in Los Angeles. I came up on a truck loaded with furniture. It was a weekend. I was on my motorcycle. I could see the stuff bouncing around from the wind. Fortunately the 405 is 4 lanes wide in each direction and this guy was in the right hand lane. Just as I started moving left, crap started coming out of the truck. Seat cushions, lamps and stuff like that. I managed to get over fast enough to not get hit by any of it. The guys behind me didn't do so well. When I got up along side the truck and blew my horn and pointed backward, the jerk just smiled at me and waved and just kept on trucking. Wasn't even aware of the crap he had caused.

Ha, lots of stacking... Not so difficult when you're at the barn picking it up, but if you're driving back alone and you drop it, you're screwed. Luckily I had a friend with me.
