CPS went out...damn!!!!
Hey all,
Well, it looks like I'm in the market for a new engine. "Check Gage" light came on while on my way in to work this morning. Looked and saw my oil pressure gauge had bottomed out. As I was pulling off the road...you guessed it, engine siezed. No chirping, no warning, no nothing...just took a huge crap on the side of the road. Hooked up my X-Cal II and it gave me the dreaded P0340 code plus a P0125 just to add insult to injury.
My question is this. I had a couple of performance tunes done for me a few years ago. After the new motor is put in, can I just re-install the tunes or does my truck need to be hooked up to a laptop again and re-run?
Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
John

It seems to me that the tunes would still be present in the PCM after the engine replacement. Slap in another 98 or equivalent 3.0 and you should be good to go without doing anything to the PCM.

Thanks Bob. I was hoping you'd chime in. Since I can't do the work myself, I'm going with a local shop with an excellent reputation. They use Jasper engines that come with a 3 year, 100,000 mile warranty. It's a bit more, but it's a quality motor.
