crashed my ranger

Don't give up on it yet. When I smashed my front end during offroading, the body shop was like "$3000, and maybe more" blahblahblah. I got 'er done for $350 by myself. Shes still not 100%, but nobody but me can tell. I say tear some of the damage off and see how far it goes back, then go from there. If the frame isnt compromised, then theres a good chance you can fix it yourself, and have a little fun while doing it too!!

I feel your pain. l lent my 07 Ranger to my brother and he ended up with the same result. Passenger side roll over. I went through insurance and it ended up being a cosmetic write off. If your handy with body work and do a bit of research you`ll find the parts arn`t to exept for the PS door. I am still hunting for parts but if you don`t mind going used you can find the doors for reasonable (around 500).

I do have a question though, why did my air bags not deploy?do you have to hit right head on?because I hit pretty much right on and they never came out?.

That happened back in 2005. Had the body shop fix it back up and still driving it to this day.
Yeah, unfortunately that's the I don't want to get involved syndrome.
Hope it all works out and you get it fixed.

Well just a little update for you guys,I talked to the guy at the body shop and he's saying there's alot of damage to that front end but I already knew that, then he said it would take at least $7800 to fix it,so since I paid $9500 for it I think I'm going to have to just scrap the truck. He said the front end is pushed back some and of course there's always stuff you can't see so until it's all apart. I don't think I'll be getting back. What a bummer man but it could have been alot worse.Take care everyone
I fought with the insurance company over the payout. At first they only offered me $7,000.00. Told them to drop dead and I'd take them to court. Finally settled with them at $11,750.00. bought it back from them for $500.00. This left me with my truck and $11,250.00.
I had three different independent shops look at it and got estimates. They ranged from $4,000.00 to $9,000.00. The shop I went with was willing to work with me allowing me to get most of the parts myself and only charged the labor. Total out the door was about $5,500.00.
Yeah it has a salvaged title now, but who cares, I'll drive it till it drops along the side of the road or my son totals it. Which ever comes first.

Yeah the seatbelt locked, but the airbag light was off and the switch was in the on position below the ashtray and I had no light on my dash showing it was not working, mabey it wasn't a hard enough crash?or my airbag system wasn't working?but from what I remember we hit hard.I talked to a few other people I know who had been in accidents before and some of their airbags never came out either.

Is this the Ford body shop or an independent shop? Ford would not even talk to me because the insurance co had totaled it.

My mom T-bond a person who ran through a red light last year in her Grand Caravan and it didnt set the airbags off... She hit the other person HARD too. That was the third time she hit something in that thing too and never set them off. They are apparently pretty picky about what sets them off haha.

Ok so you have to be hit pretty hard then I guess to set that all off,I always thought that it didn't matter how hard the impact was,I just thought if you hit the front end enough to bash it in it would go,thanks for the reply

Sometimes its safer to have them not go off. Every now and then you hear a story about someone who was hurt by them going off that would have been ok otherwise.

I've heard that people get cuts on the face from the material that blows out from the wheel when the bag comes out,I'm just glad I didn't have my son in the truck and that it was just me and the dog.

Not all Rangers got aluminum driveshafts.
There was a thread on this issue a while back, it was determined after extensive research that there was no pattern to the decision for what Rangers got the aluminum shafts or not.
Vehicles that were just about identical had different shafts, things like that
If you wheel, aluminum is not ideal, but the aluminum is lighter for the daily commuter.

I honestly don't blame anybody for not getting involved in his accident. Unfortunatley that is the state of the world we live in now. Folks get sued all the time for trying to help other people, its a sad sad thing but what are you going to do, shoot all the lawyers?? lol
