Any recommendations for it??

From what i read being it has a box to it, it wont suck in the warm air inside the engine compartment is this correct??

It is a great design. I have one on my truck and I love it. It is a fully enclosed box with two openings on two sides to suck in air. The cone filter is better than a K&N IMO, no residue in the intake tube or on the MAF. I gained 3 mpg with it but I also had headers and a cat back system at the time of install.

Volant makes a great kit I will admit they are a great design

 

Great cause all i keep reading is most CAI for Rangers bring in HOTTT air instead of cold because of poor heat shields.. so volant it is then.

 

I have been curios about the Volant. Where is the inlet opening? Any pics of it?

Seen the S&B but I'm not sure where the opening is. It looks like it's toward the fender which doesn't make sense.

 

looks like its right above the front right tire and fender.

 

But then you have a nice wall blocking the air.

 

hmm i suppose one could custom create air to it i have no idea.. what i was told is there is a hole in front and side of volant which isnt well displayed above.

 

That's where the stock box gets' its air.

 

well unlike stock it gets air in two inlets from what i have read and the filter is cone allowing greater air flow without pulling in hot air like aem and k&n.

 

There is an inlet towards the fender and one towards the headlight.

 

my brother has it on his ranger. i have the k&n 5157 or whatever.

his is great for offroading cause it keeps mud out unlike my open filter.
gas milage increase for him was about 2-3mpg.

i think they pillow there hp gains.. being im highly doubting 10 - 25 hp by all means..

 

yeah have the system on my truck and i love it is a great system ive had others on the past and this has been the only true intake i have had if i had it to buy again i would buy it before i even thought about buying the others out their

well what exactly are you looking for input wise?

 

was told 8-12 hp gain depending on temp by retailer of volant...any truth to this? can't make up my mind to either get the volant or fabricate a ram air setup ( finding room for scoop and still have it looking decent is my biggest headache at moment)

 

I have the volant on my 4.0. It looks good, the box has 2 holes it sucks air in thru. I saw a 1mpg increase, can't feel a difference in power.

 

so the volant is like any other intake? as far as mpg/ power gains?

 

yes and no... volant actually brings in colder air than k&n and any intake with a heat sheild.. being it boxes the filter in and brings in from the 2 coldest sides i have heard highest gains from volant and dont have to worry about oiling it and ruining 02 sensors.
