Bought new OEM Ford lights today. I kind of had too.... While I was out of town I had the shop I used to work at order me a set. This was before I got back and noticed that my tinted lights weren't really "gone" after all. They still aren't on the truck yet though, I didn't have time to go to my Aunt's place to install them.

If the cops come through and get me my old set back, I will probably sell one of the sets. I am not planning on needing a backup set lol. I am too much of a packrat as is lol.

BTW... there's an awful lot of "guests" viewing this thread at any given time.......

If you were that close taking pictures, I would've just walked up and unscrewed them and walked away.

2 of your friends posted this on other forums so I assume it came from there.

I might go have a talk with him tomorrow. I need to go install the new lights or have a word with someone and try to get some property returned to me.

I don't want to just walk up to his truck and try to steal them back. The last thing I need is to pull an OJ... you know... getting arrested for stealing my own things.

have you even seen the guy? and a serious question, could you whoop his a$$?? if yes, then go up and knock on his door and confront him... and if you answered no to that question, then find either a big friend or a big gun to help you out...

so, where im from, when u call the cops to report your car stolen they say "we'll look, but good luck"
If your bike gets stolen, they say, "we're not wasting our time"
when your lights get stolen....

i can totally agree with what you're trying to do. I do understand that you dont want to steal them back, and thats right. BUT. This guy seems like a DUMBASS.. he probably wouldnt even call the cops. and if he did, i would just hang out, tell the cop whats up, and see where it goes from there. Im sure they're not going to prosecute you,

Be it me in ur shoes. I would go knock on the door while he's there. (not a bad idea to have a friend with u incase he's with a few people) tell him, "hey goodmorning, how u doing? im here to take my lights back, try to stop me, and i'll **** you the **** up beyond recognition. not to mention, try me, and first i'll **** u up, then i'll bash in your truck, k? thanks"

and go get ur **** back!!! It would absolutely kill me inside that i know where my stolen property is, and im not doing anything about it.

Hope it all works out for you and that douche bag get what's coming to him. I'm sure someone knows who that Ranger belongs too as well. He may even be a member on another Ranger forum.

Stuipidy comes in many forms, but this one is just too ballsy.

Go talk to him, it seems like you've done everything except talk to him. Most guys who stole something when confronted by the owner of the stuff they stole won't be able to talk there way out of it and would make up some story saying "someone sold them to me, but since there yours i'll give them back", I sure know if I stole something and the person came up to me and accused me of it I would feel extremely uncomfortable.

Walk up, unscrew them, walk back, put them on your truck, drive off and don't come back to that house for awhile.

Sorry to hear about all this idiocracy with the neighbor. I'd try to handle it locally, neighbor to neighbor. If that's not possible, bring the law in. They'll just tell you it's a civil matter anyway(at least here they would). But you're going about it right. That's rediculous what that asshat did. If it were me, I'd probably go ahead and take my taillights back, bash in his ****ty third AND his headlights. But, I'm kind of an a-hole like that.

Steve.....I got some screws to send ya.... security screws. Put a set on your truck, and put a different set on his without taillights and BAM! He'll have to cut 'em out and knowing his douchebaggery ways, he'll probably cut the eff out of his sheet metal too!

I don't think the guy's too incredibly stupid, it's pretty obvious he knew the cops couldn't do anything without witnessing it or the guy having a serial number with documentation saying it came off of his ranger. And he's riding around town with some badass nightshaded tails that he got for free and won't be touched...Pretty smart if you ask me!!!

Well I put the new tails in my truck and picked it up from my Aunts house today. The white Ranger wasn't there but I talked to his buddy that owns a Taco. I think he also is the primary renter at the house too.

What did he have to say when I talked to him about the situation?

- His buddy tinted the tails himself
- they did it with spray cans in their front yard
- oh no, they did these ones too, the other set I saw on Monday was completely different
- He works for an ambulance company so I can totally believe what he's telling me
- They are totally not my tails
- They cleared them with spray can stuff too so thats why his tails are so shiny and not dull like every other niteshade job.

So no. I don't believe him but I am still waiting for the cops to do something. I'm beginning to doubt anything is gonna get done. I'm not happy about this.

Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon isn't REALLY as bad as it sounds.. Probably get off with probation, community service and have to write a letter of an apology..Looking like the best option though..

screw that dumb *** karma works in mysterious ways and he will get his you need to find some type of locking screws or something witha funny head to keep it from happening again and on your new ones on the back side engrave somthing you name or plate numbers that way if it happens again there is proof on the lights themselfs that cant be argued then take pics of the engraving

Play dumb and be his best friend...

tell him you bought a new set of tails, but don't have the time to night shade them. Ask him if they can make a new set just like the ones on his buddy's truck!!
If they can produce, then they may have really done it themselves...if it looks like ****...lying sacks of it.

IF they did it with spray cans, I doubt that they used the whole cans. That would lead me to believe that the cans were still somewhere in the garage. I know that I personally wouldn't throw away a can of paint that was only half empty. Tell them that you liked the way their paint turned out and you were interested in trying it out. Whoever you talk to may either produce the cans they claim to have used, or they may stumble over an excuse for not having them.

^He's right about that, it would only take a small amount of Nightshades to get the tint you had on there. They could claim however that they used up the last of their paint which is why it's so light.

If it were me, I'd probably drill "speed holes" into the tail lights and render them unusable.

i don't get what working at an ambulance company means. so, everyone that works for an ambulance co. is honest?

he did them the same weekend that your truck was there and you were not? so they had some sort of nightshading party?

OP that really sucks. all we can do is pry that that @$$hat gets rear ended and those tails get destroyed.

now that others have posted it, i wouldn't engrave the backside or "mark" them. i'm sure the acused are keeping tabs on this thread. when you talked to him, did you make it clear that it's suspisious that your outta town, your tails get stolen, he gets similar looking tails and is denying the whole thing?

How would they keep tabs on this thread? I don't think the OP has r/f stickers on his truck at all.
