stuck in park
so my breaklights didnt work and the automatic shifter would stuck in park, so i changed my break switch and the breaklights work now but shifter still stuck in park, i figured out how to unstuck it to drive but i have to hold it forward whle turning the ignition key to unlock the shifter, but its such a hassle and i want to fix this problem. any ideas? is there a release shift? maybe i have to change a fuse? new shifter cable?

disconnect the shifter from the trans to make sure it isnt an internal trans problem
if the shifter still doesnt move, there is a shift interlock solenoid on the column, make sure you have power and ground to the solenoid and replace it if you do. you will only have power to it when your foot is on the brake and the ignition is in the on or run position
