The Problem: I am going To Order a Camper Shell for my 1997 Ford Ranger. I recently purchased it for 2,000$. It had been in a wreck. It has a step side bed, and is standard cab. I dont know what body style it is. On the fender emblem it says RANGER XLT. 1. What size is the bed? 2. There are stickers on it that says Thunder. 3. Also on the Headrest Thunder is Imbroidered. 4. 1) step-sides are 6' beds (also referred to as shortbed)(2)thunder was some sort of a package, think i read about it at www.rangerstation.com somwhere, have never seen one, may have been a reginol thing(3)could be part of the forementioned "package"(4) might be, my '88 had a factory sunroof. it could also be part of this "thunder" package/trim level. all in all a cap for any stepside ranger should work, the ones for the normal styleside box however woudlnt work. The thunder is/was a package. Dunno if it was in 1997 though
