Ford Ranger?

Ok I currently have a 01 Chevy Silverado 1500 2 wheel drive with 153k miles and new tranmission rebuild. It has dents on the front right fender. Nothing really much though.
My dad hails a trailor alot and his truck quit on him. He wants my truck and get me another one. I told him if I can find a smaller truck I will. Since I dont like S-10s. I am looking for a ford ranger.

My main question is can I get one that I like for about 6,000 dollars.

I want one in good condition. Like a 2000 for the latest model. I want it to be extend cab. I would like it to be 4x4. I would like it to have a V-6 to.

This might sound kinda stupid but ever where else I asked nobody would give me a straight answer. Surely I will get one here.

You should be able to find a 2000 4x4 or older for around 6k.

These little trucks are very addicting..

I hope you find what your looking for and for 6G's you should be able to find a good truck.

Yes, try autotrader.com and do a natiion wide search for the years you want with no price range. Doing that will give you a good idea of the asking price nation wide and you will know what to offer for the one you want. When you find what you want narrow your search to as far as you would drive to buy it and enter the years and price your looking for.

I bought my 03 Ranger through autotrader.com

You should focus a little on what engine to get. That may be a factor long term.

4x4 should have either a 3.0 or 4.0 V6. Most are listed as V6 and don't specify "which" v6. An easy way to tell is to look at the water pump pulley. If it is ribbed it is a 3.0, if it is flat it is a 4.0.

Ruff data:

2000 and older 4.0 is about 150 HP and is an OHV motor.

2001 and newer 4.0 is about 200 HP and is a SOHC Motor. WHile it has more HP it is also harder to work on. There are two timing chains. One in front, one in back. Changing the timing chain means removing the engine. Some early models had a problem with a timing chain rattle.

All 3.0's are about 150 HP. They are a pushrod motor which makes it the easiest (imo) to get into the engine to do some work on it.

There are some HP variances between years but I tried to keep it basic overall.
