Driving style

Like the title says, whats your normal driving style? For me i try to gradually get up to speed(doesnt always work lol), and sometimes do 3-5 over the limit.. just to keep things running with a good flow of traffic.

around here if you don't do 3-5 over you are having your *** ridden all day long, which is pretty entertaining if your having a rough day . In my opinion by actually doing the speed limit and becoming an obstacle for other drivers you are causing more dangerous driving conditions, i think the law enforcement around these parts understands that because they are pretty lax about anything 6 or under on mayjor streets as long as it is with the flow of traffic. I can see though where the speeds can begin to creep up and flow of traffic becomes unacceptable. That is where the police need to draw the line.

I try not too speed especially when driving the truck because it doesn't like to go fast.

I normally go about 5 over max. But on the interstate in my wife's car I will go 10 over and sometimes that is not enough to keep up with traffic.

One morning on the NJ Turnpike I was going 90 trying to keep up with the Econoline 350 that passed me. then we were both passed by a Porsche that had to be up around 125 or 130

I like to hear the 4.0 working so I tend to be pretty heavy on the accelerator, but once I get up to speed I tend to sit at the speed limit or a little over (5 or less).

I sit in the slow lane and just chill, people tailgate me all the time but I really don't care. I know I'm not doing anything wrong so they can just wait.

in florida you cannot get a speeding ticket for going anything under 6pm over. It doesnt even list a fine amount for 1-5mph on the ticket, it just starts at 6.

i think i saw this in someones signature "i know truck isn't a race car, but i drive it like it is" that is pretty close to me right there. i'm trying to slow it down though. unless i'm on the freeway then i do between 65 and 80.

not ultra fast off the line (i cant), once up to speed it depends on the road. access roads (along the highway) i do the speed limit, ~50,then on the highway i do the speed limit +5.. when i can, most of the time at night, no one will even go 65

Take my time on the start up and sty with in 5 or so of the posted limit. I never have anywhere I need to be that is worth getting into an accident or getting a ticket over.

I have slowed down A LOT since gas has gone over $3/gal. I usually drive 60 on the 70mph interstate. Cars can go around me, so it's not like they are piling up behind me. And if you're only going like 25 miles before you exit, why go full-bore? I will only be a light or two behind you when you exit anyway...

I hardly ever go over the limit anymore. Sometimes if a parishioner is in the hospital or someone is about to die, well that's a 'nother story.

Some of my friends who are in the local PD say they'll never write a man-of-the-cloth but I ain't gonna try it.

It depends on what road I'm on, but I usually drive 5-10 over the limit or I follow the flow. When I accelerate it's usually a steady average acceleration, nothing too fast, helps go easier on the gas.

When I got my licence when I was 16, I used to go like 75mph everywhere (55mph speed limit). About 8 months, I decided to slow down some and only go like 10 over, and then I got pulled over! After that, most of the time I try to stay 5mph within the speed limit, cause ever since I got pulled over for speedin, im afraid theres going to be a cop sittin around a corner if I do speed (this was about a year and a half ago. lol) I dont want my insurance to go up cause i'll probably be payin the amount it went up. And I try to accelerate slowly and keep the rpms down (mainly to keep engine wear down) but half the time, I end up stompin the go pedal till I get up to speed.

Being a motorcycle rider I think the question should be, "How do others observe your driving?"
When you ride a M/C you see all sorts of bad habits. One thing I do is check the wheels on any vehicle traveling near me. If the front wheels are black with brake dust.. red flag. If all four are black emergency red flag.

I guess it comes from so many cage drivers first statement is, "I didn't see you." So how many cats and dogs have you run over? Stop for animals but not humans?

Sorry but most people I talk to give the right answers to your question but when it comes down to the real thing it's not so true. I think it's the way people see themselves and their perspective. If someone drives in Montana, 85 is a good speed but do they remember to drive slower in urban areas?

How many posted they slowed down because of the price of gas? So this tells me higher the price safer our roads? See it's perspective.

If people would leave 10 minutes earlier we would all be better off but our society has gotten to the point of leaving late, driving fast, running redlights and stop signs and endangering others for what? 30 seconds?
