What's a fair price on this newish Ranger?
Looking to get my first Ranger soon and found this Ranger on cars.com:
2009 Ford Ranger XLT Supercab, 4x4, 4L V6, Automatic Tranny, Tow Package, 9k miles
Dealer wants $19,900, but according to its carfax, its been for sale at the dealership since early August so perhaps I can haggle much more down.
Whats a fair price???
Thanks guys.

Offer the 15.5 mentioned. They'll say 18 or so then come back with another offer.
Or lie alittle and say you found the same truck somewhere else for 16.5 :D haha.
I always say "I have (x) amount to spend RIGHT NOW" they never take the offer but if you say you found another truck and drive off guaranteed they'll call you an hour later with a way better deal

THey wanted 17k for my truck with 16k miles on it back in 08 (mine is an 06). I haggled with them and the lowest they would go was like 15,800. I told them that i was just gonna keep looking for a truck around the $14,500 range (the price i was willing to pay) and 5 minutes later they called me up and said come get your truck haha. THis was at a Ford Dealership as well, so its not impossible to do.
At the same time, i went across the street and they had an 05 with 9k on it, they too wanted 17k for it I told them that i was approved on a truck at the Ford Dealership for 14.5k. I would either buy a truck for them or the Ford place. they came down to 14.8k but wouldn't come down the extra $300 to match the Ford dealership. So i went to walk out of the door and said i was going to get the other one. They stopped me and said i could have it for 14.5k...lol.
needless to say, i didn't get the that truck but ultimately went with the dealership one because it was not bought at a sell and still had warranty. so see you DO have the buying power if you know how to do it

$18,000 is the MSRP for a new fully loaded 4x4 XLT? I'm sure MSRP isn't the final selling price, but 25k seems about right for full sticker price. The "sticker" price for my short bed, single cab, 2.3, 2wd XLT was $19,700 ...the actual price I paid was $15,400

Ain't no way the sticker is 18k for a loaded 2010 4x4 XLT.

UPDATE!!!!!
Went to look at the ranger today, pretty sweet truck. The place had horrible customer service though, I even had to ask for someone to help us (talk about bad). This guy was pretty non-flexible on price, was a struggle for him to come down to his "rock bottom" offer of 18,800 so we ended up leaving him my number and walking out.
He tried to defend his case by showing us the KBB for the truck, although he showed us the KBB for a 4 Door, not 2 door, (the truck is only a 2 door) which was 2 thousand more than even the sticker price brand new two years ago. He didn't listen when he told him his value was 2k more than sticker price...
Gahhhhhh

x2!!! a loaded 10' 4x4 msrp is around 27k before any rebates. hell my 04 2wd edge retailed for 22k new. had all the power options, but had the 3.0/auto/2dr. No way in hell a 10' fully loaded 4x4 is going for 18k.
