My 2.3 makes almost as much hp and is twice as efficient in gas mileage, I drove one for 6 years I know what they can do and yes they do suck

 

Going to have to disagree with you there.. Ive own a 3.0 before, they are slow, very slow. Ive own a 2.3 4 cylinder ranger, MUCH quicker, better acceleration, although it was a 5 speed. And now my 4.0 SOHC would easily crush a stock 3.0. I mean they are reliable engines, but unless you put a lot of time and money into it, its always going to be a 3.0. They will last you forever, but i mean honestly its like trying to polish a turd man.. I think id just drive the truck into the ground and save up for a 4.0 ranger or something....

 

swap it out for a bigger engine or sell the the truck, the 3.0 is a waste.

My old 4 cylinder? yes.. That thing was peppy as hell for a 4 cylinder. Much faster than my old 3.n0 was.

 

can i have an engine shop rebuild the engine to a 4L, or is it a dumb thought
