The HVAC would be much much better "practice" before you try the cluster. It is better to learn on it so you dont break the cluster. I have those bulbs if you want them.

Sure why not, I'm not worried about breakin anything I just don't know what the bulb sizes are and everything. How much you want for the bulbs.

I just bought some new needles yesterday so they will light up brighter. The blue lights behind the stock orange needles don't seem to light up very well. When I put white LEDs behind there it works really good however I am totally addicted to blue.

I bought both of these sets because I'm not sure how they will look or which one will look better. I bought paint yesterday (body color, sonic blue) so I can paint the hubs of the needles the same as the exterior. I'm also going to paint the black bezel around the gauges (inside of the cluster)

I painted the cluster bezel and the needle hats today, they look phenomenal. I will have pics soon as I left them at the paint shop to dry.

Question about your HVAC.

Did you sand down the overlay and paint it blue? Or is that LED's that are blue?
Ever since i replaced my Guage cluster lights bulbs i've ben thing about redoing my HVAC, and possibl ygetting some LED's to go in there.

BTW i used autolumination.com for my bulbs and was wondering if i should get heat sinked LED's or will i be fine with normal LED's?

Inside your HVAC is a little green window guy you can remove and throw as far from your truck as humanly possible... no sandpaper required, just missile launcher.

This lighting strategy is much more work, but hell yeah it looks really nice and even...

If anyone wants me to solder 2 hairs on their head together, let me know.

take the hvac cluster apart....pull the ***** off(just pull out), unclip the front cover. attached to the front cover, is a film which gives it the green color...that film is sandwiched between the cover that you see and a 'light spreader' thing....

Just remove the 'green film', add plug in leds...bam. done.

So the paint is dry, I painted the cluster bezel and the hats of the needles, both body color - sonic blue.

I bought aftermarket needles from US speedo. They are silver hat with blue arms. I painted the silver hats body color.

The "2004 Ford" needles that usspeedo.com sells DO NOT fit the 2004 Ranger.

Rusty at usspeedo got me GM ones that do work.

The only reason I changed the needles is because my blue LED backlighting does not illuminate through the stock orange needles that come with the truck.

Jp7.. I ran 5-5mm leds in each hole where a 194 bucket used to be. It lights up mine and SHANE's clusters and needles flawlessly, but you may have just given me a reason to get new needles... Damnit. lol
