Flipped my truck over Sunday

I was driving around on a gravel road by my parents house Sunday afternoon and decided to slide around a corner that Ive slid around hundreds of times and this time the back end slid around to far and I lost control. Basically ended up almost doing a 180 and the front of the truck slid off into the ditch sideways and the truck tipped over on its side. The top of the cab hit the side of the ditch and buckled it in. The front fender has some good dents in it, there is a dent in the cab just behind the door, and the passenger bedside is trashed. Of course the top of the cab needs a lot of work and the paint is scratched up. The engine was running when it tipped over and I shut it off as soon as the truck came to a stop and I realised it was still running. What do I need to do engine and drivetrain wise before I restart it? Just check the fluids or drain and replace them all? There was fluid leaking when we turned it over, it smelled and looked like transmission fluid but not sure why it would have been leaking.

I'll take that headache rack when you decide to part it out. Let me know LOL JK

Sucks about the truck. Accidents happen. I don't care who you are, everyone has done something dumb that had consequences. Some dumber then others.

I'd get new tires. Yours look bald...maybe that had to do with the roll?

Doesn't look like the tires are bald... the second to last picture looks like it shows maybe 1/4" or more tread? I'm not sure... could be just the angle of the pic.

Yea Im getting a quote on fixing the top of the cab, I can replace the bed and front fender myself and i dont think there should be any driveline or frame damage. It will just take some time and money

Eh, the "Radial" in the name on the tire is a dead giveaway...def first gen's.

Fronts look like they might have some tread, but rears are fubared.

While it was laying on it's side, would have been a good time to paint the frame!

Yeah it would have been.

I got it running saturday and drove it around a little bit. The frame is strait still except for the front cross member. My welds that i used to weld it back together after installing the front hitch didnt hold up because the frame horn hit the ground. So I will have to straiten it back out and weld it up again. But for now its sitting in my grandmas shed for a while.

At least nobody was crass enough to post the old "That will buff right out!". I actually think your frame looks really good rust-wise. Hope you get it fixed and all comes out well.

Thats just because you cant see it very well. It has cracked in three places and been welded up, had to relace the rear shackle mounts because they rusted off, had a cross memeber rust off and fixed it and its been painted from the cab back.

I got a local body shop guy who works part time for my uncle farming to fix the cab good enough to get a window back in it. It isnt perfect but its functional. Ill evenutally replace the bed if I can find one that isnt rusted to bad. and replace the front fender.
