I've had endless troubles with the ford dealer .i got 30,000 on the truck. It all started with an oil leak at the rear main seal . they ended up doing the rear main seal 3 times and breaking the hydraulic clutch cable once . my truck spent like a month at the dealer and about 5 trips down there. so that sucked ....then just when i think its all over i get it home and i can hear the tranny coming through the base of the stick . I look in there and the boot underneath that seals the stick where it passes through the floor is torn from the trans going in and out so many times.i checked and saw the part is only like 20 bucks so i figured the hell with it i'm sick of going to the dealer i'll fix it myself someday.

then my cruise control goes out last month and i tell them to fix the boot while its there . I tell the guy "ITS NOT THE BOOT U CAN SEE , ITS UNDERNEATH ON THE FLOOR.I CAN SHOW U ON THE COMP DIAGRAM IF U WANT" I knew they would see the torn boot on the top (the one attached to the stick and cup holder) ....i had to grind down the cup holder for the body lift . so they see the torn boot and just fix that . like 2 weeks of waiting for parts and its wrong again.back to the dealer again. Now they have destroyed my shift **** and replaced it with this cheap plastic crap and i am super pissed off .... the **** i had was discontinued.

I complained to the manager about all the problems and said i either get the exact shifter i had before which u destroyed or the next model up but this plastic crap is bs and you still have to fix the noise too . sooo finaly i wait a month for the parts and then 5 days in the shop i get it back ..... I get in and there it is ,fx4 shifter ! and i made them do a free fuel filter for my troubles .

the new stick is sweet , i love how u can feel the feedback from the trans , looks good , more comfortable too. best of all i have been wanting one or a hurst shifter cuz the body lift makes the stick hit the console and it caused second to feel funny.now with the new shape of the stick it isn't even close to hitting the cup holder, works perfect . despite all the pain in the butt i guess the new stick and fuel filter was worth it.

 

Does the dealer know you have a body lift?

Well just play it cool with the dealership because with a body lift they can deny any warranty claim that's even remotely tied into it.

 

warranty is almost up . its obvious it has a body lift if they don't realize it they are idiots .

 

With the problems you have had, you should consider getting an extended warrnty.

IDK. Not all dealers are looking for reasons to deny warranty. I've never had an issue with any modded vehicle related to warranty work.

This one could have been legit reason to void the booth though. The shifter hitting the floorboard is pushing the boots into areas not originally intended.

 

My truck is at the dealer now. My front diff is leaking and he said they're opening it up to check out everyhting because they think there could be something else internal possibly. I think it's just the pinion(sp?) seal but hey I'm at 31,5xx miles and he said it should be covered by the warranty. We'll see tomorrow when I should get it back.

cant beat a free shifter

 

I had them do the front pinion which was leaking when i had the main seal done and its already leaking again . its not much but its definently wet .
