Rim Leaking Air

Sigh, so last week sometime I noticed my back driver tire was a little flat so I busted out the tire gauge and it was at 25 PSI and everything else was at 29-30 PSI. So I filled it up and forgot about it. A few days later, same problem. So I filled it back up and kept as eye on it. From what I can tell it has been leaking about .5-1 psi per day.

I inspected the tire and it doesn't have any obvious damage. The rim though is rusted out just like my others. And I already replaced 2 for the same issue last year. I am getting all new ones for Christmas. So I defiantly don't want to go buy another that I am going to ditch in a month.

It was down to 22 PSI today so I went up to Wal-mart and got a can of fix-a-flat. I popped it on and used about 1/4 of the can and disconnected it. I figured since it wasn't "flat" I didn't need the whole can. Then I tried to fill it up. Nothing. The valve is clogged and stuck open and currently leaking slowly So I check the pressure and it still says 22 PSI but I figure it can't read it. So I screwed the cap back on and left it. If it goes flat I guess I will just run my spare will January.

Point is.......steel rims suck.

It's probably a bad valve stem or something.

PS - the tire guys are going to hate you when they pull a tire off and see all of that slime crap in there now.

yeah.....from a tire guy efffffff youuuuu lol. jk,sorta. We do have bead sealer if it's not rusted TOO bad it's possible to salvage. usually a wire wheel on the bead of the wheel and then using the bead sealer(its just a rubber liquid) your issue will go away for AWHILE. not a permanent fix though

fix a flat is only going to make it worse. not only the rust but it will eat away the liner of the tire if left in(which is obviously what you planning on doing)

I think he means just the valve core that threads out of the valve stem... if it's stuck just put a new one in for now.
