Fell Asleep Mod- Chevy Content

Yesterday I had work from 6:30am to 5pm and couldnt sleep the whole night so I was running on 0 hours of sleep. So I worked my day and was on my way home, I was about a mile down the road from home and I dont remember falling asleep.

But what happened was I shut my eyes probably for a couple seconds and when I woke up was goin 50-55 mph with my cavalier half way off the road. I was able to move back onto the road and made it back to my house.

This was by far the scariest thing I've ever had happen to me and am grateful I didnt hurt anyone or flip the car. Luckily nothing looks to be wrong with the car besides it looking like went wheelin.

Now I dont want people comparing their wreck and how mine wasnt up to snuff because I just thought I'd tell you guys my story and hopefully no one else drives without sleep.

Sorry for the chevy content it is my mothers

Honestly, this has happened to me once when I was driving an '88 Fullsize Bronco, And I will never drive low on sleep again - its a -very- scary feeling, and your adrenaline pumps like crazy when you jerk awake and scoot back onto the road. If any of my friends had a long day at work, they always know I am more then happy to accommodate them at my place - I dont let people working under me drive while low on sleep, or no sleep at all for a 24 hour period - not safe!

And you kept driving home? Smart.
I'm glad you didn't get hurt or hurt anyone, but seriously, use your brain and pull over and sleep there.

My dad is a industrial flooring supervisor so he goes out of town a lot on jobs. The whole work crews will jump in vans and trucks to head over to out of state jobs and stay in hotels until it's down. Naturally, at night, after work, they all get hammered and stay up all night. A few years back one of the crews (like 4-5 guys) were coming home in an E250 or 350 on the highway running on hangovers, 2 weeks of hard work, and a total of 3-4 hours of sleep per night. All the passengers were asleep and the driver nodded off. He swerved off the road and clipped the start of a guard rail. The van flipped on it's side and slide and spun down the highway for about 250 yards. All the other crews in the van behind them watched the whole thing. All of them were seriously injured. I think one or two were paralyzed and the driver dyed in the hospital 2 days later. I remember my dad coming home crying about it. They were all young guys in their 20s. I was like 5 or 6.

Driving while drowsy is as dangerous, IF NOT MORE than being under the influence.

Well if you would have read I was a mile down from my house. Just a miinute of driving to get home going 55mph. Would you have pulled over and slept? Now this is fully my responsibility and my fault but dont be a jerk about it.

And thanks to everyone else, I definitely was lucky that nothing bad happened. Im grateful for not having something happen to the car either.
