The EASIEST way in the world to remove ice on your windows
I came up with this idea like 6 months ago, and it works with snow too. And, its FREE and EASY.
Take 3 towels, and place one on the windshield, and over the wipers, and the air inlet, and one on each side. and just lay them on. Its better to do this while its starting to get crappy.
This works like a charm, and while everyone else is chiseling away away at their windows, u pull off the towels, hop in, and drive away.

Get a large piece of whatever that will cover the entire window. Then tuck it in with the doors.
IE open the pass door, stick inside Then slam it shut. Cover window. Repeat on the driver side.
I just flip up the wipers and spray the window with the deicer window solvent. Works well for light snows.

Covering your windshield?? It's a new idea for sure.........
Hate to rain on your parade, but people have been covering their windshields with everything from cardboard to tarps for many many years now.
But I do like how you specify 3 towels though, pretty funny. Maybe write a "How-to" for this, that will make for a good laugh.
.....But if we are really going to look at the "EASE" of things like "removing ice"......having to purchase 3 towels, then lay them on the truck without having them blow off.....seems like a lot of work. Starting the truck up and turning on the defrost seems a lot easier to me....but I've been wrong before. :)
