fuel pump...rust...then $150 later....
ok so ya...for the last week my truck has been giving off fuel vapors. not really leaking any visible gas anywhere. being its a beotch to drop the tank and I had no time with college and work till sat to work on it i just kept driving it..man did it get annoying being i had to drive with the a/c on so i didnt smell it. So get the Ford papers on the gas tank and there is a vapor valve.....so i figure that the rubber tube coming from it split or something....NOPE
get the bed off today to see what in hell is going on. come to find out the top of the fuel pump/sending unit was damp...CRAP!! there was rusted pin holes on the top....damn.....
so start making phone calls and end up $150 later with a new fuel pump assembly(heres it installed.) thats grease on the top of it to stop some rusting..i hate rust...
here is the rest of the pictures and man my frame is rusty as hell. go figure...damn michigan salt....
only a little longer and i can ditch this truck.....

Thanks for the tips and PICs! I got the assembly off this morning... the hammer and stick worked fine... mine was cruded up but not rusty... seems the real trick is the little clips on the fuel lines... there a little catch tab that needs to be depressed so the clip can pass through... you've got to take that clip all the way off... so the next step is to reinstall a new unit, reconnect the electrical and fuel lines, get a new fuel filler hose since mine is cracked and split, and put the bed back on.
