Documentation that I have PATS?

Ok so my insurance company, Allstate, offers a discount if your vehicle is equipped with a Passive Disabling Device, which is what PATS is. Trouble is they are asking for documentation of it being installed as proof. Does anybody know where I can find proof that a vehicle has PATS?

Try showing them the instruction manual for your truck.

I have lowjack but I never though about the PATS. Time for me to update my insurance.

Yea I got lucky. My insurance lady mistook my truck for a newer one, and in their computer it listed that the truck had an immobilizer.

5% discount FTW!

Well I thought I had a good agent.

My old insurance company, AAA, gave that discount without asking, but this one wants proof.

I just found on my window sticker for the F150 it says I have Secruilock, which is PATS, and I found a good description of it Ford's website. Now I just need to prove it's on the Ranger too.

Anybody know where I can find a copy of the window sticker online? I seem to remember something about this being possible?

It should be in your owners manual

The company already has your VIN# so you shouldn't have to provide it. Their database should be able to tell that. If they still want to give you a hard time, use the last 9 of your VIN and go to the dealer - parts counter. They can do a print out that shows that.

BUT, you shouldn't have to. Its a factory standard.

All owners manuals are the same, year to year. They won't accept that as proof.

My agent needs documentation to send to the underwriter, or I would just take the key down.

Hmm... maybe I can photo copy my sisters Contour key thats broken, I can pull the chip out and send a picture of the key with the chip next to it... haha

Yeah the fact that it is a Ranger should be enough. It's standard for all of them! Your insurance should know that.

It's not standard on all Rangers though, or anything for that matter. I have a friend with an '01 Super Duty and '02 Ranger and neither have PAT's.

Tell them to try and steal it, then laugh in their face and say these exact words.

"SEE LOLINURFACE!" while pointing.

What does the "PATS function control type" correspond to? 98-00 is "B" and 01-04 is "E"....anyone know what the difference is?

You see the black part of your key? That has a chip in it that makes it so only that key will start your truck. You can't get a blank key and use it to start the truck unless it has a chip that has been synced with the PATS system.

It makes it impossible to start, they can still put it in neutral and roll it.

You can prove your key has a chip in it if you met your agent at ACE Hardware or like take a video lol, they have a thing that you put your key in and if it has a chip in it similar to the PATS chip it'll make a light light up.
